Objective: Idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIMs) are autoimmune disorders significantly impacting skeletal muscles; however, the precise correlation between muscle magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings, muscle pathology, disease subtypes and clinical characteristics remains uncertain. Thus, we investigated the association of muscle MRI findings in IIMs with muscle pathology and clinical features.

Methods: New-onset IIM patients underwent proximal upper and/or lower limb muscle MRI.

Colonisation of freshwater habitats by marine animals is a remarkable evolutionary event that has enriched biodiversity in freshwater ecosystems. The acquisition of tolerance to hypotonic stress during early life stages is presumed to be essential for their successful freshwater colonisation, but very little empirical evidence has been obtained to support this idea. This study aimed to comprehend the evolutionary changes in osmoregulatory mechanisms that enhance larval freshwater tolerance in amphidromous fishes, which typically spend their larval period in marine (ancestral) habitats and the rest of their life history stages in freshwater (derived) habitats.

Objectives: Anti-differentiation-associated gene 5 (MDA5) antibody-positive dermatomyositis, which has been described as clinically amyopathic dermatomyositis, complicates rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease (ILD). Owing to the absence of significant muscle symptoms, musculoskeletal MRI is often not performed. In this study, we aimed to devise a simple evaluation method using musculoskeletal MRI findings to elucidate the relationship between MRI findings and ILD prognosis and development.

Dexamethasone to prednisolone rotation relieved hiccups in colorectal cancer patient continuing teleworking during anticancer therapy.

We present a case of chemotherapy-induced hiccups that were alleviated by steroid rotation. Hiccups are often overlooked, but they have an impact on the patient's quality of life. In the COVID-19 era, web-based teleworking has become an important tool, hiccups during a teleconference should be noted as a concern for patients.
