[A case of unresectable gastric cancer treated with triplet combination chemotherapy with itraconazole and conversion surgery].

A 73-year-old woman visited our hospital due to carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) level elevation (110ng/ml). She underwent an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (EGD), enhanced computed tomography (CT), and positron emission tomography (PET) -CT. She was diagnosed with type 3 esophagogastric junction cancer with paraaortic lymph node (LN) metastases at stage IVA (cT3N4M0).

Pediatric Hirayama disease.

We report on a 16-year-old girl with muscular atrophy of a distal upper extremity (Hirayama disease). The disease progressed insidiously, and during our first examination, she exhibited weakness and wasting in the right hand, accompanied by cold paresis. No sensory disturbance was evident.

A prospective randomized trial of the preventive effect of pre-operative transcatheter arterial embolization against recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma.

To clarify whether pre-operative transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) improves survival after hepatectomy, a prospective randomized comparative study was done. Of a total of 115 registered patients having solitary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) 2 to 5 cm in diameter, 18 (15.7%) were excluded after randomization.
