[Partial penectomy for penile cancer in a centenarian man].

A 100-year-old man visited our hospital with a complaint of penile tumor formation with bleeding and pain. The tumor was 5cm in long diameter with an irregular surface, and extended from the glans via the coronal sulcus to the dorsal surface of the preputium. The clinical diagnosis was stage I penile cancer, and partial penectomy was performed.

Perception and Haptic Rendering of Friction Moments.

This paper considers moments due to friction forces on the human fingertip. A computational technique called the friction moment arc method is presented. The method computes the static and/or dynamic friction moment independent of a friction force calculation.

Effects of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E on colonic mucosal leukotriene generation, lipid peroxidation, and microcirculation in rats with experimental colitis.

Aims: We investigated the effect of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) on mucosal levels of leukotrienes (LTs) and lipid peroxide (LPO), and on mucosal microcirculation, in rats with experimental colitis induced by dextran sulfate sodium (DSS).

Methods: We fed Wistar rats a perilla oil-enriched diet containing alpha-linolenic acid (63.2% of total fatty acids) with various doses of vitamin E for 4 weeks, with 4% DSS added to the drinking water during the last week.

A previous report was concerned with the evaluation of quality of life using a Health Promotion System for the Elderly. In the present report, we describe one part of that system: a subjective symptoms acquisition and reporting system. The main purpose of this system is to permit any physician or nurse to uniformly employ questionnaires to acquire accurate subjective symptoms.

[Collagen disease and vasculitis with manic and depressive symptoms].

Collagen diseases and vasculitis diseases are known to have severe disorders in many organs. Manic and depressive symptoms are also found in these diseases as one of central nervous system disorders. They are frequently observed in systemic lupus erythematosus, primary Sjögren's syndrome and rheumatoid arthritis.
