"What can I do? fight him?" Perceptions and Experiences in Reducing Secondhand Smoke Exposure during Pregnancy: A Qualitative Study among Israeli Women.

Introduction: Second-hand smoke (SHS) exposure during pregnancy is associated with negative health outcomes. We aimed to explore Israeli pregnant women's perspectives on SHS exposure, with a focus on barriers and enablers to reducing SHS exposure at home and in the car.

Methods: Qualitative semi-structured telephone interviews with 68 women - 54 Jewish and 14 Arab.

Prescription opioid use in Israel - the tide has risen, but it's not a tidal wave.

The devastating human and financial costs of the ongoing global opioid crisis underscore the need for comprehensive public health strategies, effective treatment programs, and robust policy interventions to mitigate its impact. Regarding Israel, numerous reports highlight a steady increase since 2000 in prescription opioid use and the shift to more potent opioids particularly fentanyl, particularly among more marginalized population groups. In response to growing concern in the country about the rise in prescription opioid use and the consequential risk of opioid use disorder, the Israeli government, together with the country's health service providers, implemented a series of measures to monitor and regulate opioid prescriptions and balance the need for effective pain management with the prevention of opioid abuse and its associated harms.

Psychosocial health of migrant careworkers from Southeast Asian countries in Israel: A mixed methods study.

Background: In 2018, 66,859 migrant careworkers were in Israel, most of whom originated from Southeast Asian countries and 81 % of whom are women. Stringent regulations combined with social invisibility creates vulnerabilities that may contribute to emotional distress. This study aimed to assess psychosocial status and determine mechanisms of emotional distress and resilience in this population.
