Long-term studies have confirmed a causal relationship between the development of neurodegenerative processes and vitamin B (thiamine) deficiency. However, the biochemical mechanisms underlying the high neurotropic activity of thiamine are not fully understood. At the same time, there is increasing evidence that vitamin B, in addition to its coenzyme functions, may have non-coenzyme activities that are particularly important for neurons.

The study of individual cell processes that occur both on their surface and inside is highly interesting for the development of new medical drugs, cytology and cell technologies. This work presents an original technique for fabricating the silver-coated pipette and its use for the cell analysis by combination with surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and scanning ion-conducting microscopy (SICM). Unlike the majority of other designs, the pipette opening in our case remains uncovered, which is important for SICM.

This paper investigates the possibilities of creating magnetic field sensors using the direct magnetoelectric (ME) effect in a monolithic heterostructure of amorphous ferromagnetic material/langatate. Layers of 1.5 μm-thick FeCoSiB amorphous ferromagnetic material were deposited on the surface of the langatate single crystal using magnetron sputtering.

Non-contact mapping of magnetic fields produced by the human heart muscle requires the application of arrays of miniature and highly sensitive magnetic field sensors. In this article, we describe a MEMS technology of laminated magnetoelectric heterostructures comprising a thin piezoelectric lithium niobate single crystal and a film of magnetostrictive metglas. In the former, a ferroelectric bidomain structure is created using a technique developed by the authors.

In this study, Ingots of (Bi, Sb)Te thermoelectric material with p-type conductivity have been obtained by hot extrusion. The main regularities of hot extrusion of 30 mm rods have been analyzed with the aid of a mathematical simulation on the basis of the joint use of elastic-plastic body approximations. The phase composition, texture and microstructure of the (Bi, Sb)Te solid solutions have been studied using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy.
