Infective endocarditis is a serious inflammatory disease associated with damage of heart valves and other parts of endocardium. This study included 91 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of «infectious endocarditis» and hospitalized at the Research Institute of Complex Problems of Cardiovascular Disease (Kemerovo, Russia) from 2010 to 2015. The determination of the spectrum of microorganisms in the samples of patients' peripheral blood was carried out using the PCR method using reagents produced by Lyteh Ltd.

Materials And Methods: We included in this study 118 patients who had undergone simultaneous mitral valve replacement and maze procedure. Group 1 patients (n=37) underwent just sinus rhythm restoration, group 2 patients (n=54) underwent sinus rhythm restoration and participated in a patient education program, group 3 patients (n=27) underwent sinus rhythm restoration, participated in a patient education program, and were subjected to pharmacogenetic testing for warfarin sensitivity.
Infective endocarditis (IE) is a septic inflammation of the endocardium. Recognition of microbial patterns, cytokine and acute phase responses, hemostasis features, and alterations in plasma lipid and calcium profile all have been reported to affect pathogenesis and clinical course of IE. Having recruited 123 patients with IE and 300 age-, sex-, and ethnicity-matched healthy blood donors, we profiled their genomic DNA for 35 functionally significant polymorphisms within the 22 selected genes involved in the abovementioned pathways, with the further genetic association analysis.

A significant risk of intraoperative complications, death and presence of a small fresh thrombus suggest thrombolytic therapy to be an alternative option of treatment because of a relatively low risk of the procedure. This article presents successful experience of systemic thrombolysis in patients with acute thrombosis of mechanical prosthetic valves.
