In this study, we employed DFT calculations to elucidate the mechanism of NO generation from nitrite PPh-induced oxygen atom transfer (OAT) in the unsymmetrical β-diketiminato copper(II), LCuONO. We discovered that the OAT process involves the cooperation of two PPh ligands and follows the mechanism distinct from that of the symmetrical β-diketiminato analogue. The Δ value, calculated to be 34.

We herein described the design and synthesis of the cyanopyridoimidazoles (CPIs) as new bioorthogonal click reagents toward 1,2-aminothiol groups. Kinetic and density functional theory-based studies of the synthetic compounds revealed that incorporating an electron-withdrawing substituent into the CPI scaffold lowers its lowest unoccupied molecular orbital energy, consequently increasing reactivity. Optimized CPI showed rapid reactivity and high stability in physiological conditions and has been demonstrated to be suitable for various radiotracer synthetic methods.

Cancer drug resistance is an ever-changing problem that most patients need to face in their later stages of treatment, especially the multidrug resistant (MDR) type. The drug efflux transporters, including P-glycoprotein (P-gp), multidrug resistance protein 1 (MRP1), and breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP), play the crucial roles in this sophisticated battle. In recent decades, researchers try to find potential inhibitors to impede the drug efflux function of above transporters.

Objective: The radiocephalic arteriovenous fistula (AVF), first introduced by Dr Kenneth Charles Appell, allowed for the provision of hemodialysis for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and remains a reliable method for vascular access today. The purpose of this study is to review the contributions that led to the development of the AVF. We describe the work of Dr Appell, whose procedure bypassed the need for repeated cannulation in achieving vascular access, transforming the management of patients with dialysis-dependent CKD.
