Background: We examined the effect of gait training on apathy/post-stroke depression (PSD) in patients with walking disorders after stroke, and the effect of apathy/PSD on gait reacquisition in subacute stroke.

Methods: Fifty-five participants with gait disorders after stroke underwent gait training for 6 weeks. Outcome measurements included Apathy Scale (AS), Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D), Mini-Mental State Examination, Lower Extremity Function of Stroke Impairment Assessment Set, and Functional Independence Measure-TRANSFER and -WALK scores.

All free-living microorganisms homeostatically maintain the fluidity of their membranes by adapting lipid composition to environmental temperatures. Here, we quantify enzymes and metabolic intermediates of the Escherichia coli fatty acid and phospholipid synthesis pathways, to describe how this organism measures temperature and restores optimal membrane fluidity within a single generation after a temperature shock. A first element of this regulatory system is a temperature-sensitive metabolic valve that allocates flux between the saturated and unsaturated fatty acid synthesis pathways via the branchpoint enzymes FabI and FabB.

We herein report a case of traumatic tibial nerve defect involving the ankle joint. A 16-mm-long defect was observed in a 5-mm-diameter tibial nerve. Two 3-mm-inner-diameter PGA-collagen tubes were transferred to the bifurcated tibial nerve.

Background And Objective: Lung function abnormality of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) has not been explored well. Preserved ratio impaired spirometry (PRISm) is known for its association with obesity and cardiovascular morbidity, which are also characteristic features of OSA. This study aims to investigate whether the prevalence of PRISm increases according to apnea-hypopnea index levels among subjects with OSA.

Hydroxycarbodenafil, an analogue of carbodenafil, was detected in a dietary supplement in China in 2020. However, previous reports have not identified some carbon signals from the piperazine ring in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments. Because the compound contains an amide bond, the reaction was suggested to be characteristic of compounds with rotational isomers.
