[A Case of Ascending Colon Cancer with Synchronous Unresectable Liver Metastasis Maintaining a Long-Term Stable Disease State after Discontinuing Chemotherapy].

A 73-year-old woman presenting with weight loss was diagnosed as having ascending colon cancer with synchronous liver metastasis. The liver metastasis was solitary but it occupied the medial and anterior segments. The size was over 9 cm in diameter and was located adjacent to the left, middle, and right hepatic veins, making it initially unresectable.

The patient was a 57-year-old man who presented with cancer of the esophagogastric junction. He underwent total gastrectomy, lower esophagectomy, distal pancreatectomy and splenectomy with para-aortic lymphnode dissection by the transthoracoabdominal approach. He was given a daily dose of 100 mg of S-1 as adjuvant chemotherapy.

A 69-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with severe anemia. He was diagnosed with advanced gastric cancer, T3N1H0P0M0, Stage IIIa.

A resected case of squamous cell carcinoma associated with ductal carcinoma in the hemilateral breast successfully treated by FU plus cisplatin (CDDP) adjuvant therapy against recurrent metastases is reported with some discussion. A 42-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital because of right breast tumor. By physical examination, mammography, ultrasound examination and aspirated cytology, we diagnosed squamous cell carcinoma of the right breast.

Recurrent bleeding from a duodenal diverticulum 8 years after endoscopic treatment: case report and review of the literature.

A 70-year-old woman presented with a 2-day history of tarry stool. She had a history of hemorrhage from a duodenal diverticulum of the 2nd portion 8 years previously that had been managed successfully by endoscopic hemostasis. Initial gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed ulceration of the diverticulum with no active bleeding; nevertheless the ulceration was presumed to be the source of the tarry stool.
