Foundation dentists' attitudes and experiences in providing dental care for dependant older adults resident in care home settings.

Introduction: There is a continued increase of older dependant adults in England. Foundation Dentists (FDs) are often the dental workforce being tasked with providing dental care to dependant older adults resident in care home settings. This study explores whether FDs have the experience and confidence to deliver this.

Socioeconomic Deprivation Correlates With Incomplete Radiotherapy Treatment in Head and Neck Cancer.

Unlabelled: There is a high burden of socioeconomic deprivation across Merseyside and, along with this, poorer cancer outcomes. The incidence of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) within this region is higher than the national average and there are often additional complexities to individual treatment pathways such as poor health literacy, lack of social support and transport options which can impact on adherence to prescribed treatments.

Aims: This work aims to understand the impact of deprivation on patients diagnosed with HNSCC undergoing chemoradiotherapy (CRT) or radiotherapy (RT) treatment by identifying barriers to adherence.

Oral health improvement programmes in Local Authorities (LA) seek to reduce these inequalities but have diminished in recent years following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The use of oral benzodiazepines for the management of dental anxiety: a web-based survey of UK dentists.

Background Oral benzodiazepines (OBZs) can facilitate treatment of dentally anxious patients and are widely used in countries such as Australia and the United States. Dentists in the UK prescribe them much less often.Aims To examine OBZ prescribing by dentists in the UK, including patterns of practice, barriers to use, and alternative anxiety management strategies.

Comprehension of skin cancer genetic risk feedback in primary care patients.

Few studies have examined comprehension and miscomprehension of genetic risk feedback for moderate-risk genes in the general population. We examined the prevalence and nature of accurate and inaccurate genetic risk feedback comprehension among those who received genetic testing for melanocortin-1-receptor (MC1R) gene variants that confer moderate melanoma risk. Participants (N = 145 Albuquerque, NM) were tested as part of a randomized controlled trial.
