Background: The predictive value of PD-L1 to select patients for immunotherapy in resectable NSCLC remains imprecise, confounded by different assays used across trials and intra-tumoural heterogeneity (ITH). We sought to compare the concordance between 3 PD-L1 antibodies stratified by EGFR mutation status, evaluate ITH and implications on survival outcomes.

Methods: Tissue microarrays were constructed from stage IA-IIIA NSCLC with 3 tumour cores per patient.

Developing future electronics will require aggressive scaling of the channel material thickness while maintaining device performance. Two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors are promising candidates to sustain further device scaling, but despite more than two decades of intense research, experimental performance continues to lag theoretical expectations. Here, we develop an oxygen-free approach to fabricate 2D field-effect transistors and push the electrical transport toward the theoretical phonon-limited intrinsic mobility.

Article Synopsis
  • Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive condition leading to kidney failure, and while there are treatments to manage it, none can reverse the damage.
  • Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) offers an alternative with potentially fewer side effects, but more research is needed to understand how its natural products can help improve CKD, particularly in relation to mechanisms like autophagy and cellular aging.
  • This review looks into TCM's natural products, their active components, and their possible roles in protecting kidney function and aiding in the management of CKD alongside conventional therapies.

The impacts of degradation and deforestation on tropical forests are poorly understood, particularly at landscape scales. We present an extensive ecosystem analysis of the impacts of logging and conversion of tropical forest to oil palm from a large-scale study in Borneo, synthesizing responses from 82 variables categorized into four ecological levels spanning a broad suite of ecosystem properties: (i) structure and environment, (ii) species traits, (iii) biodiversity, and (iv) ecosystem functions. Responses were highly heterogeneous and often complex and nonlinear.

Article Synopsis
  • A 60-year-old woman with metastatic follicular thyroid carcinoma experienced thyrotoxicosis and heart failure symptoms after her total thyroidectomy.
  • The diagnosis revealed functional metastatic FTC along with thyrotoxicosis, prompting the cessation of levothyroxine and the initiation of propylthiouracil (PTU) and serial radioiodine treatments.
  • After 4.5 years since her diagnosis, despite the high disease burden, she has maintained a good functional status.
