Background: Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)-related myocardial infarction (MI), especially the distal type associated with microvascular dysfunction, is not an uncommon complication of the procedure. Specific lesion features, the echo-attenuated plaques (EA) in particular, are well-established contributors to the pathogenesis of distal-type MI. These plaques are prone to disruption during PCI, leading to microvascular thrombosis and distal embolism.

Article Synopsis
  • Embryonic stem cells can self-organize into structures similar to blastocysts, which are important for studying early development and potential therapies.
  • Researchers identified key factors influencing blastoid formation, focusing on the gene Nr1h2, which is critical for its development and operation across multiple species.
  • Activation of Nr1h2 not only promotes blastoid creation but also enhances their ability to implant in the uterus and contribute to both embryonic and extraembryonic tissues, highlighting its broad regulatory role in early embryonic development.

Zika virus has raised global concerns due to its link to microcephaly and Guillain-Barré syndrome in adults. One of viral nonstructural proteins-NS4B, an integral membrane protein, plays crucial roles in viral replication by interacting with both viral and host proteins, rendering it an attractive drug target for antiviral development. We purified the N-terminal region of ZIKV NS4B (NS4B NTD) and reconstituted it into detergent micelles.

Adherence to treatment plans is crucial for patients with diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) to achieve positive outcomes. With limited understanding of nonadherence and its impacts on care outcomes, this study aimed to explore the reasons and factors associated with nonadherence in an integrated diabetic limb salvage (DLS) programme and evaluate its effects on care outcomes. This study included 2798 DFU patients who were enrolled in an integrated DLS programme across multiple institutions in central and northern Singapore from 2020 to 2021.
