The Joint Committee for Nationwide Survey on colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM) was established to improve treatment outcomes in patients with CRLM. The aim of this study was to evaluate the transition in the characteristics and treatment strategies of patients with CRLM and to analyze the prognostic factors. The data of 5085 patients newly diagnosed between 2013 and 2017 were compared with those of 3820 patients from 2005 and 2007.

Herat's Catastrophe: Earthquakes Deepen Afghanistan's Healthcare Crisis.

In October 2023, Herat Province in Afghanistan was devastated by three earthquakes, resulting in 1,480 fatalities and 1,950 injuries, affecting approximately 154,000 people. The destruction included over 21,300 buildings, including 40 healthcare facilities, intensifying an existing humanitarian crisis under Taliban rule since August 2021. A comprehensive and coordinated response is vital for sustainable recovery and resilience, transcending political barriers to address the immediate and long-term needs of the Afghan population.

Effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of online recorded recovery narratives in improving quality of life for people with psychosis experience (NEON Trial): a pragmatic randomised controlled trial.

Background: The Narrative Experiences Online (NEON) Intervention provides self-managed web-based access to mental health recovery narratives (n = 659). We evaluated effectiveness and cost-effectiveness in improving quality of life for adults resident in England with mental health problems and recent psychosis experience.

Methods: Prospectively registered pragmatic parallel-group randomised trial controlling for usual care, recruiting from statutory mental health services and through community engagement activities, with a 52-week primary endpoint (ISRCTN11152837).

Non-consensual Sex Among Japanese Women in the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Large-Scale Nationwide Survey-Based Study.

Introduction and background Non-consensual sex, including rape and sexual assault, has been a global concern and may have been influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, information on this topic is limited. Therefore, our objective was to survey the incidence rate of non-consensual sex among Japanese women aged 15-79 years between April and September 2020, during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan.

Peroxisomal Localization of Benzyl Alcohol O-Benzoyltransferase HSR201 is Mediated by a Non-canonical Peroxisomal Targeting Signal and Required for Salicylic Acid Biosynthesis.

The phytohormone salicylic acid (SA) regulates plant responses to various types of environmental stress, particularly pathogen infections. We previously revealed that the benzyl alcohol O-benzoyltransferase HSR201 was required for pathogen signal-induced SA synthesis, and its overexpression together with NtCNL, encoding a cinnamate-coenzyme A ligase, was sufficient for the production of significant amounts of SA in tobacco. We herein examined the subcellular localization of HSR201 and found that it fused to a yellow fluorescent protein localized in peroxisomes.
