Investigation of the phenomenology, physiology and impact of spiritually transformative experiences - kundalini awakening.

There is a paucity of research examining the phenomenology and energetic effects of spiritually transformative experiences with an energetic component, often referred to as kundalini awakenings (KAs). This limits our ability to understand and support individuals who have these often unexpected and powerful experiences. This study aimed to explore not only the nature of these experiences but also their subsequent behavioral and physiological transformative effects.

Teaching medical students how to break bad news.

Unlabelled: PROGRAM OBJECTIVE: To teach medical students to break bad news to patients and their families empathically and competently.

Setting: Seven teaching hospitals affiliated with the University of Toronto since 1987.

Participants: All medical students in their third preclinical year.

Family physicians generally agree that they should play an active role in disease prevention and health promotion. However, until recently no valid and reliable tool was available to help physicians clinically assess patients' lifestyle. The authors have studied the validity and reliability of a new five point-scale version of the FANTASTIC Lifestyle Assessment, used in a family practice.
