Intraoperative patient radiation dose from cone-beam computed tomography in thoracic surgery.

Background: Several methods can be used to intraoperatively identify pulmonary lesion using radiation technology. However, little is known about patient radiation exposure during chest surgery. We aimed to measure patients' radiation exposure from cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) used in a hybrid operating room.

Objective: Japan has a system of occupational therapy programs known as self-reliance training (training for daily living), which helps people with various disabilities lead more meaningful lives. Recently, it has been shown that green care farms are beneficial for dementia care and that agricultural and horticultural work has a positive impact on people with intellectual disabilities and mental disorders. This study examined the health-improving effects of farm activities and developed an attractive program for adolescents with developmental and intellectual disabilities who use independent training facilities.

Zoster Sine Herpete Affecting Multiple Lower Cranial Nerves Presenting Severe Dysphagia in a Patient with Parkinson's Disease.

We report the case of a 74-year-old woman with Parkinson's disease (PD) who developed acute dysphagia, dysarthria, and hoarseness. A neurological examination and nasopharyngeal fiberscopy revealed paralysis of the left glossopharyngeal, vagus, and hypoglossal nerves. No skin rash was observed.

Heterologous complementation systems verify the mosaic distribution of three distinct protoporphyrinogen IX oxidase in the cyanobacterial phylum.

The pathways for synthesizing tetrapyrroles, including heme and chlorophyll, are well-conserved among organisms, despite the divergence of several enzymes in these pathways. Protoporphyrinogen IX oxidase (PPOX), which catalyzes the last common step of the heme and chlorophyll biosynthesis pathways, is encoded by three phylogenetically-unrelated genes, hemY, hemG and hemJ. All three types of homologues are present in the cyanobacterial phylum, showing a mosaic phylogenetic distribution.
