The biobased production of chemicals is essential for advancing a sustainable chemical industry. 1,5-Pentanediol (1,5-PDO), a five-carbon diol with considerable industrial relevance, has shown limited microbial production efficiency until now. This study presents the development and optimization of a microbial system to produce 1,5-PDO from glucose in Corynebacterium glutamicum via the l-lysine-derived pathway.

Background And Objectives: Parkinson disease (PD) exhibits a characteristic pattern of brain perfusion or metabolism, thereby being considered network disorder. Using dual-phase -(3-fluoropropyl)-2β-carbomethoxy-3β-(4-iodophenyl) nortropane (F-FP-CIT) PET, we investigated the role of brain perfusion in motor symptoms and disease progression, independent of striatal dopamine depletion.

Methods: We recruited patients with de novo PD and healthy controls (HCs) who underwent dual-phase F-FP-CIT PET and brain MRI.

Even though calling researchers have identified two major forms of calling, namely modern and neoclassical, existing studies do not agree on whether these two forms are consistent or different in their mechanisms and outcomes. This study aimed to investigate whether modern and neoclassical calling are both indirectly related to unethical pro-organizational behavior (UPB) and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) through the mediating roles of psychological entitlement and moral duty. Additionally, this study also aimed to investigate whether psychological entitlement functions as a mediator greater in magnitude for modern calling, whereas moral duty functions as a mediator greater in magnitude for neoclassical calling.

Stem cell therapies have emerged as a promising approach in regenerative medicine, demonstrating potential in personalized medicine, disease modeling, and drug discovery. Therapies based on induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) particularly stand out for their ability to differentiate into various cell types while avoiding ethical concerns. However, the development and application of these therapies are influenced by varying regulatory frameworks across countries.

Individual variability exists in parkinsonian motor symptoms despite a similar degree of nigrostriatal dopamine depletion in Parkinson's disease (PD), called motor reserve. We enrolled 397 patients newly diagnosed with PD who underwent dual-phase F-FP-CIT PET upon initial assessment. Individual motor reserve was estimated based on initial parkinsonian motor symptoms and striatal dopamine transporter availability using a residual model.
