Purpose: To assess how gross tumour volume (GTV) delineation in anal cancer is affected by interobserver variations between radiologists and radiation oncologists, expertise level, and use of T2-weighted MRI (T2W-MRI) vs. diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), and to explore effects of DWI quality.

Methods And Materials: We retrospectively analyzed the MRIs (T2W-MRI and b800-DWI) of 25 anal cancer patients.

Cursive Eye-Writing With Smooth-Pursuit Eye-Movement Is Possible in Subjects With Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disorder causing a progressive motor weakness of all voluntary muscles, whose progression challenges communication modalities such as handwriting or speech. The current study investigated whether ALS subjects can use Eye-On-Line (EOL), a novel eye-operated communication device allowing, after training, to voluntarily control smooth-pursuit eye-movements (SPEM) so as to eye-write in cursive. To that aim, ALS participants ( = 12) with preserved eye-movements but impaired handwriting were trained during six on-site visits.

Emotional feeling in patients suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Objective: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal and progressive neurodegenerative disorder involving motor neurons of the cerebral cortex, brain stem and spinal cord. Besides the motor signs, cognitive disorders and apathy may be present and may impact the survival time. These elements are therefore to be taken into consideration for medical care because they can influence the disease evolution.

Radiomics analysis of pre-treatment [F]FDG PET/CT for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer undergoing palliative systemic treatment.

Background: The aim of this study was to assess radiomics features on pre-treatment [F]FDG positron emission tomography (PET) as potential biomarkers for response and survival in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC).

Methods: Patients with mCRC underwent [F]FDG PET/computed tomography (CT) prior to first- or third-line palliative systemic treatment. Tumour lesions were semiautomatically delineated and standard uptake value (SUV), metabolically active tumour volume (MATV), total lesion glycolysis (TLG), entropy, area under the curve of the cumulative SUV-volume histogram (AUC-CSH), compactness and sphericity were obtained.
