Since the era of the widespread introduction of antibiotics into the human sphere of activity, the problem of antimicrobial resistance has become an urgent and very important topic around the world. Recently, coagulasonegative staphylococci (CoNS), which are representatives of opportunistic microorganisms of the microbiome of the skin and mucous membranes of healthy people, have made a certain contribution to its progression. For a long time, they did not pose a threat to patients, but in recent decades among microorganisms they have been seeded in more than two-thirds of patients with postoperative mediastinitis, catheter-associated infections, as well as from wounds of the neck vessels and the inguinal region separated by pacemaker beds.

Due to the high impact of semiconductors with respect to many applications for electronics and energy transformation, the search for new compounds and a deep understanding of the structure-property relationship in such materials has a high priority. Electron-precise Zintl compounds of the composition ( = Li - Cs, = Al - In, = P, As) have been reported for 22 possible element combinations and show a large variety of different crystal structures comprising zero-, one-, two- and three-dimensional polyanionic substructures. From Li to Cs, the compounds systematically lower the complexity of the anionic structure.

Self-assembly gives rise to the versatile strategies of smart material design but requires precise control on the supramolecular level. Here, inorganic-organic synthons (conjugates) are produced by covalently grafting stearic acid tails to giant polyoxometalate (POM) Keplerate-type {Mo} through an organosilicon linker (3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane, APTMS). Using the liposome production approach, the synthons self-assemble to form hollow nanosized vesicles (100-200 nm in diameter), which can be loaded with organic dyes─eriochrome black T (ErChB) and fluorescein (FL)─where the POM layer serves as a membrane with subnanopores for cell-like communication.

1-D oxides Zn1-xCuxO and spherical composites Zn1-xCuxO/CuO were obtained by thermolysis of formate-glycolate complexes Zn1-xCux (HCOO)(OCH2CH2O)1/2 (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.15). The structural and property characteristics showed that Cu was introduced into the Zn site of the ZnO lattice to form the Zn0.

Surgery has played an important role in managing complicated tuberculosis in former Soviet Union countries, including the Kyrgyz Republic. However, published information is limited. This study aimed to document the trend, characteristics and outcomes of tuberculosis patients who underwent thoracic surgery, using routinely collected data.
