Slanted and Standard Lateral Rectus Recession Procedures for Convergence Insufficiency-Type Intermittent Exotropia in Children: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of slanted bilateral lateral rectus recession (BLR-rec) for treating convergence insufficiency-type intermittent exotropia (CI-IXT) in children.

Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, 26 patients aged <16 years with CI-IXT who underwent BLR-rec between August 2016 and July 2021 with six months of follow-up data post-surgery were classified into slanted BLR-rec group (n = 14) and standard BLR-rec group (n = 12; equal-length recession of the upper and lower horns of the LR muscle). Surgical outcomes were compared between the groups.

Comparison of masticatory performance and oral hygiene status using cream-type denture adhesives and home liners: A cross-sectional study using propensity-score matching.

Background: Differences in the effects of cream-type denture adhesives and home liners remain unclear.

Objective: This cross-sectional study aimed to clarify the differences in the oral-hygiene status and masticatory performance between participants using cream-type denture adhesives and those using home liners.

Methods: Masticatory performance with and without cream-type denture adhesives and home liners was evaluated using colour-changeable chewing gum.

Advanced gastric cancer with peritoneal oligometastases treated with adaptive radiotherapy and concurrent chemotherapy.

Background: There are no reports of concurrent chemoradiotherapy for gastric cancer with peritoneal oligometastases.

Case Description: A 70-year-old man with gastric cancer and peritoneal oligometastases received concurrent adaptive radiotherapy and oral S-1. After radiotherapy, S-1 was discontinued, and 2 years later the tumor had completely regressed, with no recurrence or metastasis 6 years after radiotherapy.

The urinary tract reconstruction in a robot-assisted surgery for rectal malignancy with combined prostate and seminal vesicle resection.

Introduction: In certain cases of rectal malignancy in which invasion is confined to the prostate and/or seminal vesicles, bladder-sparing surgery may be chosen instead of total pelvic exenteration. However, even if the bladder is preserved, postoperative urinary dysfunction and vesicourethral anastomotic leakage are concern.

Materials And Surgical Technique: We employ various techniques based on robot-assisted radical prostatectomy for reconstructing the urinary tract.

Upper rectal fixation with an endorectal balloon in prostate cancer radiotherapy.

Purpose: Despite the efficacy of endorectal balloon (ERB) in reducing rectal radiation dose, the effectiveness of upper rectal fixation remains to be evaluated. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of ERB on upper rectal fixation in patients diagnosed with localized prostate cancer.

Materials: Cine MRI was performed in 46 patients with localized prostate cancer to assess the stability of the anterior rectal wall with and without ERB by calculating the standard deviation of the normalized signal intensity at the level of the midgland or the seminal vesicle.
