Association between solid cooking fuels exposure and metabolic syndrome: Evidence from China.

Epidemiological evidence connecting cooking fuel use to metabolic syndrome (MetS) is lacking. Solid cooking fuel usage and MetS prevalence were prospectively investigated in this study. We included participants in 2011 and 2015 from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) data.

Controllable topological phase transition ferroelectric-paraelectric switching in a ferromagnetic single-layer MMGeX family.

Recently, the emergence of two-dimensional (2D) multiferroic materials has opened a new perspective for exploring topological states. However, instances of tuning topological phase transitions through ferroelectric (FE) polarization in 2D ferromagnetic (FM) materials are relatively rare. Here, we found that 11 single layer (SL) materials, named the MMGeX family, possess both FE and FM properties.

Trigger inducible tertiary lymphoid structure formation using covalent organic frameworks for cancer immunotherapy.

The discovery of tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS) within tumor tissues provides a promising avenue to promote the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy. Yet, the lack of effective strategies to induce TLS formation poses a substantial obstacle. Thus, the exploration of potential inducers for TLS formation is of great interest but remains challenging.

Gut-liver translocation of pathogen Klebsiella pneumoniae promotes hepatocellular carcinoma in mice.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is accompanied by an altered gut microbiota but whether the latter contributes to carcinogenesis is unclear. Here we show that faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) using stool samples from patients with HCC spontaneously initiate liver inflammation, fibrosis and dysplasia in wild-type mice, and accelerate disease progression in a mouse model of HCC. We find that HCC-FMT results in gut barrier injury and translocation of live bacteria to the liver.

Ancestral genome reconstruction and the evolution of chromosomal rearrangements in Triticeae.

Chromosomal rearrangements (CRs) often cause phenotypic variations. Although several major rearrangements have been identified in Triticeae, a comprehensive study of the order, timing, and breakpoints of CRs has not been conducted. Here, we reconstruct high-quality ancestral genomes for the most recent common ancestor (MRCA) of the Triticeae, and the MRCA of the wheat lineage (Triticum and Aegilops).
