Gout, a common chronic disease, is characterized by the formation and deposition of monosodium urate (MSU) crystal deposition in articular and nonarticular structures. Osteoarthritis (OA), the most prevalent type of arthritis, is a progressive degenerative joint disease. Previous clinical studies have reported that gout frequently affects OA joints; however, the underlying mechanism remains unidentified.

Recent advancements in large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT and LLaMA have shown significant potential in medical applications, but their effectiveness is limited by a lack of specialized medical knowledge due to general-domain training. In this study, we developed Me-LLaMA, a new family of open-source medical LLMs that uniquely integrate extensive domain-specific knowledge with robust instruction-following capabilities. Me-LLaMA comprises foundation models (Me-LLaMA 13B and 70B) and their chat-enhanced versions, developed through comprehensive continual pretraining and instruction tuning of LLaMA2 models using both biomedical literature and clinical notes.

Neurons use cell-adhesion molecules (CAMs) to interact with other neurons and the extracellular environment: the combination of CAMs specifies migration patterns, neuronal morphologies, and synaptic connections across diverse neuron types. Yet little is known regarding the intracellular signaling cascade mediating the CAM recognitions at the cell surface across different neuron types. In this study, we investigated the neural developmental role of Afadin , a cytosolic adapter protein that connects multiple CAM families to intracellular F-actin.

Signaling pathways play key roles in many important biological processes such as cell division, differentiation, and migration. Phosphorylation site-specific antibodies specifically target proteins phosphorylated on a given tyrosine, threonine, or serine residue. Use of phospho-specific antibodies facilitates analysis of signaling pathway regulation and activity.
