Background: Pituitary apoplexy (PA) is a rare clinical condition presenting with acute headache, visual disturbance, and disorientation. PA can cause strokes due to acute internal cervical artery occlusion (ICO), which is an extremely rare condition. Arterial spin labeling (ASL) on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a popular technique, which is a quantitative perfusion imaging useful for the diagnosis of ischemia.

Nylon hydrolase (NylC), a member of the N-terminal nucleophile (Ntn) hydrolase superfamily, is responsible for the degradation of various aliphatic nylons, including nylon-6 and nylon-66. NylC is initially expressed as an inactive precursor (36 kDa), but the precursor is autocatalytically cleaved at Asn266/Thr267 to generate an active enzyme composed of 27 and 9 kDa subunits. We isolated various mutants with amino acid changes at the catalytic centre.

Article Synopsis
  • A 67-year-old woman with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) experienced basilar artery occlusion (BAO), leading to left arm paralysis and right-sided blindness.
  • MRI revealed brain infarction, and after her condition worsened, she underwent successful mechanical thrombectomy to clear the blockage.
  • Unfortunately, despite the procedure, she remained unconscious and ultimately died from complications related to AML 14 days later, highlighting the rare but serious association between thrombosis and AML.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) may lead to post-acute physical function deterioration due to intensive-care-unit-acquired weakness-related sarcopenia and dyspnea. Limited reports have examined the effects of rehabilitation and nutritional therapy on patients with post-acute COVID-19. We present the case of a 67-year-old man, who was admitted for the treatment of post-acute severe COVID-19, who benefited from rehabilitation nutrition.
