This study examined New Mexico home-based child care provider perspectives (n = 75) on barriers to and facilitators of Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) participation. Two thirds of the sample were Spanish speakers. Providers reported that CACFP reimbursement does not cover actual food costs and the time-and-effort costs of obtaining qualifying foods and completing required documentation.

Introduction: Sodium caseinate (CS) and its components (alpha-casein, beta-casein, and kappa-casein) have been shown to inhibit the proliferation of the mouse hematopoietic 32D clone 3 (32Dcl3) cell line and induce its differentiation into macrophages. It is well-known that alpha-casein induces IL-1β production and that this cytokine inhibits the proliferation via the production of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha), but it is not known if CS and the caseins inhibit the proliferation via TNF-alpha production. Objective: To evaluate if CS and alpha-casein, beta-casein and kappa-casein inhibit the proliferation on 32Dcl3 cell line via TNF-alpha.

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are unlimited web-based courses accessed through computers, smartphones, or other digital devices. Although they have multiple advantages, a common challenge is the low course completion rates. Young family doctors of the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) from more than 20 countries recently completed an initiative that combined social media platforms with a MOOC offered by Harvard University.

 The objective of this study was to compare severe morbidity due to obstetrical hemorrhage and its potential preventability before and after a mandated provider training initiative on obstetric hemorrhage.  Cases of severe morbidity due to obstetric hemorrhage during 2006 ( = 64 before training initiative) and 2010 ( = 71 after training initiative) were identified by a two-factor scoring system of intensive care unit admission and/or transfusion of ≥ 3 units of blood products and reviewed by an expert panel. Preventable factors were categorized as provider, system, and/or patient related.

Juxtacrine signaling is an important class of signaling systems that plays a crucial role in various developmental processes ranging from coordination of differentiation between neighboring cells to guiding axon growth during neurogenesis. Such signaling systems rely on the interaction between receptors on one cell and trans-membrane ligands on the membrane of a neighboring cell. Like other signaling systems, the ability of signal-receiving cells to accurately determine the concentration of ligands, is affected by stochastic diffusion processes.
