The case involved a 67-year-old man. Type 2 gastric cancer in the body of stomach was discovered, and the patient was referred to this department, where distal gastrectomy with Roux-en-Y reconstruction was carried out. The pathological classification was pT2N2H0P0CY0M0, pStage II B, and S-1 administration was started as postoperative adjuvant therapy.

[A Case of Locally Advanced Pancreatic Cancer Showing R0 Resection after Resection of the Portal Vein Following Preoperative Chemoradiotherapy].

We report a case of pancreatic cancer showing R0 resection after resection of the portal vein(PV)following preoperative chemoradiotherapy. Bacterial infection results in the production of inflammatory mediators and may be involved in the pathogenesis of sepsis and/or systemic inflammatory response syndrome. The effect of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), a major component of the outer surface of Gram-negative bacteria, and Staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB), a superantigen of Gram-positive bacteria, on cytokine production in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) was examined. LPS significantly increased the production of proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines, and SEB enhanced the production of helper T lymphocyte type cytokines.

Secondary sclerosing cholangitis and portal hypertension after O157 enterocolitis: Extremely rare complications of hemolytic uremic syndrome.

The authors experienced an extremely rare case of secondary sclerosing cholangitis and portal hypertension developed as late complications of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) owing to Escherichia coli O157:H7 in a 2-year-old boy. HUS after E coli O157 infection is the most frequent cause of acute renal failure in childhood and occasionally is accompanied by extrarenal complications such as encephalopathy, cardiomyopathy, ischemic colitis, and pancreatitis. Rarely, late colonic stenosis may develop secondary to the ischemic damage.
