[Renal colic: new care in emergency centers].

The prevalence of renal colic is increasing in industrialized countries, representing a frequent reason for consultation in emergencies. Most patients have simple renal colic that will require analgesia and ambulatory monitoring. Doctors working in emergency centers play a key role in the diagnosis, care and guidance of these patients.

Renal colic (RC) is a common problem in primary care practice. It is estimated that 5-12% of the general population will suffer once RC during his lifetime. The primary care physicians play a central role in the management of urolithiasis.

[Partial nephrectomy in renal cancer: a new standard?].

Rising renal cell carcinoma incidence is in relationship with early diagnosis during radiological exams. Radical nephrectomy was the gold standard treatment for 30 years. Partial nephrectomy is nowadays a validated therapeutic option for renal cell carcinoma up to 7 cm with comparable oncological results associated with better life quality and survival.

Well-differentiated papillary mesothelioma of the tunica vaginalis testis: imaging on Tc-99m heat-denatured red blood cell scintigraphy.

An 18-year-old man presented with a growing painless left scrotal mass. Sonography showed a hydrocele and a homogeneous, well-encapsulated left extratesticular mass with similar echogenicity as the normal testis, suggestive of a splenogonadal fusion. To substantiate the diagnosis, the patient underwent Tc-99m heat-denatured red blood cell scintigraphy showing normal physiological hyperactivity in the spleen but activity similar to the blood pool projecting on the upper part of the left testis.

[Trends in urology].

The systemic treatment of kidney cancers is promising regarding the first results of the inhibiting molecules of the angiogenesis. Projections in research are encouraging for more specific and sensitive markers of the prostate cancer. For this last the intermittent hormonotherapy improves the quality of life of the patients.
