Transmediastinal and transcardiac gunshot wound with hemodynamic stability.

Cardiac injuries caused by knives and firearms are slightly increasing in our environment. We report the case of a 43-year-old male patient with a transmediastinal gunshot wound (TGSW) and a through-and-through cardiac wound who was hemodynamically stable upon his admission. He had an entrance wound below the left clavicle, with no exit wound, and decreased breath sounds in the right hemithorax.

The role of surgery in the management of "body packers".

Introduction: The concealment of packets of illegal substances within body cavities is a common technique for drug smuggling worldwide. The goal of our study was to analyze the results of conservative treatment of "body packers", indications for surgical intervention, and postoperative morbidity.

Methods: This is a retrospective study of patients admitted to our hospital and diagnosed as body packers.

Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease constitutes a genetically heterogeneous group of hereditary motor and sensory peripheral neuropathies. The axonal type of Charcot-Marie-Tooth is designated type 2. Six loci for autosomal dominant and three for recessive Charcot-Marie-Tooth type 2 have been reported so far.
