Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a leading cause of chronic liver disease, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma worldwide. HCV has 8 genotypes (GT) and 86 subtypes and distribution of GTs varies based on geographical regions, transmission routes and even in cultural groups. The determination of viral genotype is crucial in choosing antiviral treatment, determining the duration of therapy, and monitoring treatment respose.

In this study, stable conformers of flutamide referred to as an anticancer drug were searched through a relaxed potential energy surface scan carried out at the B3LYP/6-31G(d) level of theory. This was followed by geometry optimization and thermochemistry calculations performed with the HF-SCF, MP2, B3LYP methods and the 6-31G(d), 6-311++G(d,p), aug-cc-pvTZ basis sets for each of the determined minimum energy conformers. The results revealed that flutamide has at least five stable conformers and two of them provide the major contribution to the observed matrix isolation infrared (IR) spectra of the molecule.

Stable conformers of neutral balenine were scanned through molecular dynamics simulations and energy minimizations using Allinger's MM2 force field. For each of the found minimum-energy conformers, geometry optimization and thermochemistry calculations were performed by using B3LYP, MP2, G3MP2B3 methods, 6-31G(d), 6-311++G(d,p) and aug-cc-pvTZ basis sets. The calculation results have indicated that balenine has about twenty stable conformers whose relative energies are in the range of 0-9.

In previous studies, a below-average, average, or above-average intelligence quotient (IQ) in children with SMA was detected but, aside from a severe physical disability, the cognitive performance of adult SMA patients has not yet been evaluated. The intelligence test used in this study, the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, fourth edition (WAIS-IV), was used to measure major intelligence components of adult SMA patients. The WAIS-IV determines four index scores representing verbal comprehension, perceptual reasoning, working memory, and processing speed.

Objective: There is not enough data on the effect of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs)/angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) on lung involvement in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia and hypertension (HT). Our aim was to compare the lung involvement of the HT patients hospitalized for COVID-19 using ACEIs/ARBs with the patients taking other anti-HT medications.

Methods: : Patients who have a diagnosis of HT among the patients treated for laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 between 31 March 2020 and 28 May 2020 were included in the study.
