We herein report a 52-year-old woman with anti-aquaporin 4 antibody-positive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) and idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease (iMCD) who was successfully treated with tocilizumab, a humanized anti-human interleukin (IL)-6 receptor monoclonal antibody. This is the first report of a case of coexisting NMOSD and iMCD. IL-6 is involved in the pathogenesis of both NMOSD and iMCD, and tocilizumab is effective against both diseases.

Although EVN commonly occurs in young adults, congenital cases are extremely rare, and standardized therapeutic strategies remain undetermined. The presence of atypical features such as increased mitotic activity on histological analysis is correlated with a higher rate of recurrence and poor prognosis.

Background: Myelin damage has recently been highlighted as a major causative factor of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Although myelin damage has been pathologically identified in ALS, it has not been clinically evaluated. This study aimed to quantify myelin volume using synthetic MRI to evaluate myelin damage in patients with ALS, and determine its association with clinical parameters.
