Rare defects in the promoter region of SLC16A1, the gene encoding monocarboxylate transporter 1 (MCT-1), result in exercise-induced hyperinsulinism. In this disorder, inappropriate insulin secretion is triggered by anaerobic exercise with consequent hypoglycaemia. We describe the case of a 41-year-old man presenting with a generalised tonic-clonic seizure and severe hypoglycaemia following strenuous exercise.

Measuring these phenomena experimentally using the available methods is complicated in mAbs development. Quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring (QCM-D) detects a loosely interacting layer on top of the irreversibly adsorbed layer of molecules, providing information about the mAbs interaction.

Introduction: The integration of engineering approaches in education and training is pivotal for reducing workplace incidents. Effective safety education increases workers' awareness of potential risks and fosters a robust Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) culture. Virtual reality (VR) offers immersive experiences that enhance the efficacy of safety training.

Aims: This study characterizes nicotine oral consumption and preference in male and female mice of several Diversity Outbred (DO) founder strains: C57BL/6J, A/J, 129S1/SvImJ, PWK/PhJ, NOD/ShiLtJ, and CAST/EiJ. It assesses the impact of nicotine concentration on intake and preference, the potential interaction of strain with sex, and estimates the degree of heritable variation in nicotine consumption.
