The synucleinopathies are a group of neurodegenerative diseases characterized by the oligomerization of alpha-synuclein protein in neurons or glial cells. Recent studies provide data that ceramide metabolism impairment may play a role in the pathogenesis of synucleinopathies due to its influence on alpha-synuclein accumulation. The aim of the current study was to assess changes in activities of enzymes involved in ceramide metabolism in patients with different synucleinopathies (Parkinson's disease (PD), dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), and multiple system atrophy (MSA)).

Parkinson's disease (PD) is one of the most common chronic neurological diseases and one of the significant causes of disability for middle-aged and elderly people. Monitoring the patient's condition and its compliance is the key to the success of the correction of the main clinical manifestations of PD, including the almost inevitable modification of the clinical picture of the disease against the background of prolonged dopaminergic therapy. In this article, we proposed an approach to assessing the condition of patients with PD using deep recurrent neural networks, trained on data measured using mobile phones.

This study aimed to analyze positron emission tomography with 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose data and event-related potentials in the Go/NoGo paradigm in patients with Parkinson's disease with and without cognitive impairment. In the group of cognitively impaired patients, glucose metabolism was decreased in the frontal, parietal, cingulate and posterior temporal cortex. Correlations were found between the cognitive scores and cerebral glucose metabolism in those areas.
