Tissue Doppler imaging is a recently developed technique that allows direct measurement of regional or global systolic and diastolic myocardial motion velocities. Myocardial velocities may be recorded in the pulsed wave tissue Doppler (PWTD) or color tissue Doppler. Pulsed wave tissue Doppler appears to be relatively independent of preload and provides important information in various heart diseases.

We report on a pregnant patient who developed acute hepatitis C during pregnancy and was treated with a short course of interferon alfa therapy with a successful outcome.
Case Summary: A 26-year-old woman was diagnosed with acute hepatitis C at the 16th week of pregnancy.
A 38-year old woman with mid-epigastric pain, diarrhea, and weight loss, underwent resection of a superior mesenteric artery aneurysm and primary repair of the artery. Pathological examination showed degenerative atherosclerotic changes, marked medial and intimal thickening, and vegetations. Microbiological studies demonstrated Streptococcus viridans as the infecting organism of this mycotic aneurysm.

In first phase of this study, twenty one rats were randomly divided into three groups of 7 animals each. Cecal ligation and perforation were carried out in each rat and sepsis made up.

The mechanical bowel obstruction was created by ligation of the ileum 1 cm proximal to the ileocecal valve. Excluding the control group (n = 7), the rats were given 2 ml of mannitol or 2 ml of 6% hydroxyethyl starch solution intraperitoneally during the procedure.

Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues from 43 cases of breast carcinoma were studied for binding with Ulex Europeus Agglutinin (UEA-I) lectin. Staining results were compared with tumor size, histologic and nuclear grade, lymph node status (number, capsular and pericapsular invasion), blood and lymphatic vessel invasion, ER and PR status, clinical stage and the patients' short-term follow-up details.
