Entomopathogenic bacteria (EPBs), insect pathogens that produce pest-specific toxins, are environmentally-friendly alternatives to chemical insecticides. However, the most important problem with EPBs application is their limited field stability. Moreover, environmental factors such as solar radiation, leaf temperature, and vapor pressure can affect the pathogenicity of these pathogens and their toxins.

Chronic anemia, transfusion-associated iron deposition, and chelating agents lead to renal impairment in β-thalassemia (β-thal) patients. The present study aimed to determine the most reliable and practical method in assessing and predicting renal injury in β-thal major (β-TM) patients. Therefore, we assessed the predictive values of urine β2-microglobulin (β2-MG) and neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) levels, their ratios to urine creatinine, and serum endocan level.

Background And Study Aims: The clinical significance of serum parameters of iron metabolism and hepcidin in liver disease remains unknown. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the association of serum hepcidin levels with fibrosis stage and serum iron parameters in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB).

Patients And Methods: This cross-sectional study included 126 treatment-naïve patients with CHB (median age, 39.

Context: Changes in the secretion of signaling molecules that originates from adipose tissue and inflammation draw attention in the pathogenesis of type 2 DM. Chemerin, one of the signaling molecules of adipose origin, and irisin, defined as the Renaissance of the metabolism, are among these molecules.

Objectives: This cross-sectional study was planned in order to compare the values of serum irisin and chemerin levels in patients newly diagnosed with T2DM and in healthy subjects.

This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) and dry needling (DN) combination on pain and functionality in plantar fasciitis. Forty patients who were clinically diagnosed with plantar fasciitis were included in the study. The patients were randomly divided into 2 groups.

The research on the abnormalities of event-related oscillations in Parkinson's disease (PD) was mostly studied with cognitively normal patients. The present study aims to show the adverse effects of cognitive decline in PD patients via the EEG-Brain Oscillations approach by comparing the electrophysiological responses in two modalities, i.e.

Aim: This study aimed to determine oxidant status and left ventricular mass index (LVMI) and their relationship with mild hyperbilirubinemia in patients with Gilbert syndrome (GS).

Background: Gilbert syndrome (GS) presents with mild indirect hyperbilirubinemia, normal liver function tests, and normal hepatic histology.

Methods: A total of 84 patients, including 41 (48.

Background: Immunosuppressive drugs used in transplantation patients, may contribute to the development of post-transplant diabetes mellitus through their possible adverse effects on incretins. We aimed to compare the effects of different immunosuppressive drugs used in renal transplantation patients on glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) levels.

Patients And Methods: Forty five subjects were enrolled in the study (cyclosporine-treated 15 and tacrolimus-treated renal transplant patients 15, and healthy volunteers as a control group 15).

Introduction: Glycogenic acanthosis (GA) is a benign, polypoid lesion frequently seen in upper endoscopy with little known aetiology. Information about how it occurs and its clinical significance is lacking.

Aim: In this study, the relationship between GA and reflux symptoms was investigated in patients who underwent endoscopy due to reflux symptoms.

Article Synopsis
  • Infective endocarditis (IE) is a serious but rare condition in Turkey, likely more common due to predisposing factors and higher rates of healthcare-associated infections, affecting both young and older populations.
  • Diagnosis is often delayed, with many patients not identified until three months after their initial visit, and the detection rate of causative organisms is notably lower compared to developed countries.
  • There is an urgent need for improved diagnostic, treatment, and prevention strategies in Turkey, including standardized processes and a collaborative effort among healthcare specialists to establish better management guidelines for IE.

Objective: Recurrent implantation failure is defined as the absence of implantation, after two or three consecutive cycles of in-vitro fertilization (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection or frozen embryo replacement. Human fetuin-A/alpha2-Heremans-Schmid-glycoprotein is a plasma protein secreted by the liver that modulates insulin action in adipocytes. Increased fetuin-A promotes adipocyte dysfunction which results in decreased adiponectin and increased fatty acids and inflammatory cytokines.

It has been already shown that the motor symptoms of the Parkinson's Disease (PD) have been improved with high frequency rTMS although there is no consensus on the most suitable target brain localization for a maximal therapeutic efficacy. Here, we aimed to compare the therapeutic effect of high frequency (5Hz) rTMS stimulation on primary motor cortex (M1) and pre-supplementary (pre SMA) regions in patients with PD who were still on pharmacological treatment. The study included right-hand dominant16 patients with PD (5 females, 11 males) with demographically and clinically similar characteristics which were randomly assigned to group 1 (n=8) and group 2 (n=8) and received left M1 and the left pre-SMA rTMS procedure, respectively.

Brachiocephalic vein aneurysm is an extremely rare clinical entity, with a limited number of case reports in the literature. We report the case of a 74-year-old woman with a left brachiocephalic vein aneurysm (3 × 3 × 6.5 cm) that was discovered fortuitously by contrast-enhanced chest computed tomography.

It is recommended that adrenal incidentaloma patients should be monitored for radiological changes, increase in size and new functionality that may occur in the future, even if they are benign and nonfunctional at the initial evaluation. Our aim is to evaluate the key clinical characteristics of adrenal incidentaloma patients focusing on changes during follow-up and associated clinical outcomes. A total of 755 patients (median age: 56 years), with an adrenal incidentaloma > 1 cm and underwent functionality tests, were included in the study.

A polypeptide with a GlyHisGly repeating sequence containing zwitterionic structures that effectively interact with cellulose was synthesized for dissociation of cellulose crystals. Polypeptide with the GlyHisGly sequence was synthesized by chemoenzymatic polymerization and postfunctionalization of the His residues was performed to afford imidazolium butyrate on the side chains. The resulting zwitterionic polypeptide effectively dissociated bundles of tunicate cellulose nanocrystals, even when the conditions were mild and the concentration of the polypeptide was as low as 1-2 mg mL.
