In pubertal and postpubertal patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), significantly greater pituitary gland volumes have been reported. Moving from this point, in the present study, we aimed to investigate pituitary gland volumes in patients with PTSD and hypothesized that volumes of the gland would be structurally changed. Volumetric magnetic resonance imaging of the pituitary gland was performed among sixteen patients with PTSD and fifteen healthy control subjects.

In the current study it was aimed to reveal the role of boron on the expression of certain transcription factors that play key roles in many cellular pathways on human subjects chronically exposed to low amounts of boron. The boron concentrations in drinking water samples were 1.

Background And Aim: Defining a new screwing method for C7 posterior stabilization in case of a cervical rib existence aimed in this report.
Materials And Methods: Ten adult patients, five of which without cervical rib (Group 1) and the other five of which (Group 2) with cervical rib that has been chosen from the radiology archive. Axial, sagittal, coronal sections of cervical computed tomography and three-dimensional images were obtained.
Background: Leptospirosis is a zoonotic infectious disease caused by pathogenic spirochetes of the genus Leptospira. Although it is usually asymptomatic and self-limited, severe potentially fatal illness accompanied by multi-organ failure may occur.
Case Report: Here we report an unusual case of severe leptospirosis successfully treated with continuous venovenous hemofiltration (CVVHF) and therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE).
A new subpecies, Tulipa cinnabarina subsp. toprakii (Liliaceae) from Turkey is described. Diagnostic characters, descriptions, detailed illustrations, geographical distribution, conservation status and ecological observations on the new taxon are provided.

It was reported previously that they are overexpressed in various human cancers. The present study was undertaken to examine the expressions of NGAL and KIM-1 in Wilms Tumors.

Methods: Magnetic resonance imaging was performed on ten patients with vaginismus and ten control subjects matched for age and gender. Volumes of the hippocampus and amygdala were blindly measured.
Objective: Oxidative stress refers to an imbalance between reactive oxidative species and antioxidants. In this case-controlled, prospective, observational study, we investigated the total oxidant status, total antioxidant status, oxidative stress index, and albumin and C-reactive protein levels of children with cyanotic and acyanotic congenital heart diseases who had undergone on-pump cardiac surgery.
Method: The study groups consisted of 60 patients with congenital heart disease, who were operated under cardiopulmonary bypass, and a control group of 30 healthy individuals.
Objectives: Galectin-3 is a marker associated with myocardial fibrosis and left ventricular myocardial index (LVMI). Myocardial fibrosis and LVMI have been reported in many studies to be associated with microvolt T-wave alternans (MTWA) positivity. In this study, galectin-3 levels of normotensive individuals and sustained systolic-diastolic hypertensive patients were compared and the association between galectin-3 levels and ambulatory ECG-based MTWA was investigated.

Here we investigate whether prophylactic and therapeutic application of the curcumin alters the enzyme activities of paraoxonase (PON), carbonic anhydrase (CA), glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) and cytosolic β-glucosidase in dextran sulphate sodium (DSS)-induced ulcerative colitis mice. Prophylactic application of curcumin resulted in higher MPO activity, less body weight loss and longer colon lengths compared to therapeutic group indicating preventive role of curcumin in IBDs.

In this study, we aimed to evaluate clinical and pathologic findings of the children with CPAMs who were referred to our center between 1992 and 2011.
Material And Methods: We reviewed 19 children with CPAM, who were diagnosed and treated at the Izmir Dr.
Background: We aimed to examine the effct of anti-obsessional drugs on pituitary gland volumes in the patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
Subjects And Methods: A group of patients with OCD and of healthy controls were evaluated by using pituitary gland magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at baseline and after twelve weeks of treatment with selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors or clomipramine.
Results: Pituitary gland volumes were found to be statistically significantly smaller in the patients with OCD compared to healthy control subjects at the beginning of the study.
Purpose: To investigate the role of CXCR4 and cyclooxygenase-2 in pterygium recurrence.
Methods: A total of 18 primary and 9 recurrent pterygium samples were analyzed. Immunohistochemical staining using primary antibodies against cyclooxygenase-2 and CXCR4 was performed.
Background: Image-guided pleural biopsies, both using ultrasound (US) or computed tomography (CT), are important in the diagnosis of pleural disease. However, no consensus exists regarding which biopsy needles are appropriate for specific procedures.
Objectives: In this randomized, prospective study, we aimed to compare CT scan-guided pleural biopsy using an Abrams' needle (CT-ANPB) with US-assisted pleural biopsy using a cutting needle (US-CNPB) with respect to both diagnostic yield and safety.
Aim: Cervical disc herniation (CDH) can be treated using different anterior and posterior methods. Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) is currently gold standard and provides bony fusion and good clinical outcome. Recently many studies reported good clinical and radiological outcomes in cases who underwent anterior cervical discectomy (ACD) and reconstruction with empty cage.

Therefore, in the present study, we aimed to investigate the effect of cognitive behavioral therapy on the volumes of the orbito-frontal cortex and thalamus regions which seem to be abnormal in the patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder. We hypothesized that there would be change in the volumes of the orbito-frontal cortex and thalamus.

The Type D Scale, the abbreviated form of the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire Revised and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale were used for data collection.
Aim: This study aimed to determine the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of pediatric forensic cases to contribute to the literature and to preventive health care services.
Material And Methods: Pediatric forensic cases hospitalized in our pediatric intensive care unit below the age of 17 years were reviewed retrospectively (January 2009-June 2014) . The patients were evaluated in two groups as physical traumas (Group A) and poisonings (Group B).
In the present study, we focused on the key brain regions, OFC and thalamus, to investigate the roles of antiobsessional agents on volume changes of these brain regions after 12 weeks of anti-obsessional treatment in patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Fourteen patients with OCD and the same number of healthy controls were included in the study. At baseline, the volumes of the OFC and thalamus were compared by using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) between groups.
