Septic brain injury is a serious disease of the central nervous system that involves inflammation. Kelch repeat and BTB domain containing 7 (KBTBD7), an E3 ubiquitin ligase, is demonstrated to facilitate the pathological changes of various diseases, but its impact on septic brain injury is unclear. In this study, a rat model of septic brain injury was induced by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP).

Background: Pneumonia, a severe infectious respiratory disease, is one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in children. Cbp/P300 interacting transactivator with Glu/Asp-rich carboxy-terminal domain 2 (CITED2) functions as a transcription cofactor, and plays critical roles in the development of embryonic and extra-embryonic tissues, including fetal lung maturation. The present study investigates the role of CITED2 in infantile pneumonia.

Sevoflurane is a commonly used inhalation anesthesia, which has been previously demonstrated to impair long-term emotional memory consolidation and induce learning dysfunction through inducing hippocampal dysfunction. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain largely unknown. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play critical roles in multiple cells apoptosis, including hippocampal neural.

Objective: To investigate the effect of caffeine citrate treatment on early pulmonary function in preterm infants with apnea.

Methods: Forty preterm infants with apnea were randomly divided into aminophylline treatment group (20 infants) and caffeine citrate treatment group (20 infants). When the preterm infants experienced apnea after birth, they were given aminophylline or caffeine citrate in addition to assisted ventilation with continuous positive airway pressure (NCPAP).
