Background: The importance of optimising antimicrobial therapy is highlighted in the hospital intensive care unit (ICU) patients. But roles of ICU pharmacists are still in its infancy in China.
Objectives: This study's objective was to evaluate the values of clinical pharmacist interventions in the antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) on ICU patients with infections.

Objective: To analyze the clinical characteristics and related influencing factors of carbapenem resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) in patients with artificial airway and mechanical ventilation in intensive care unit (ICU), and provide theoretical basis for clinical prevention of Klebsiella pneumoniae infection.
Methods: The clinical data of patients with pulmonary infection of Klebsiella pneumoniae in ICU of Beijing Shijitan Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University from January 2016 to December 2019 were collected. Compared CRKP pneumonia patients (study group) with carbapenem antibiotic sensitive Klebsiella pneumoniae (CSKP) pneumonia patients (control group), the clinical characteristics [gender, age, acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II (APACHE II), duration of mechanical ventilation, proportion of patients with mechanical ventilation > 10 days, use of antibiotics before detection of Klebsiella pneumoniae, white blood cell count (WBC), C-reactive protein (CRP), procalcitonin (PCT), albumin, bedridden for more than 1 month before admission, 28-day mortality] were analyzed.
Sepsis with severe systemic inflammation remains a great challenge for the intensive care unit in clinics. Although biomarkers have been identified to diagnose, monitor and predict these syndromes, novel therapeutic approaches are required for the amelioration of symptoms of sepsis and septic shock. The present study demonstrated that interleukin (IL)-31 was able reduce the mortality rate of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced sepsis with the reduction of inflammatory cytokines in the sera.

Objective: To assess the predictive value of early phrase echocardiography and cardiac biomarkers in patients with severe sepsis.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of severe septic patients (patients with acute coronary syndrome and end stage renal disease were excluded) in department of intensive care unit of Capital Medical University Affiliated Beijing Shijitan Hospital from January 2013 to December 2017 was conducted. The acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II (APACHE II) score, N-terminal prohormone of brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), cardiac troponin I (cTnI), myoglobin (MYO), creatine kinase (CK), MB isoenzyme of creatine kinase (CK-MB) within 6 hours after admission, and bedside echocardiography indexes [left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), the ratio of the peak blood flow velocity in the early stage of the mitral valve and the peak blood flow rate of the mitral valve (E/A ratio)] within 6 hours after diagnosis were recorded.

Objectives: Dexmedetomidine has been shown to decrease cardiac complications in adults undergoing cardiac surgery. Results from clinical trials of dexmedetomidine on outcomes following paediatric cardiac surgery are controversial.
Methods: We searched EMBASE, PubMed and Cochrane CENTRAL databases for randomized controlled trials comparing the effect of dexmedetomidine versus placebo or other anaesthetic drugs in paediatric patients undergoing cardiac surgery.

Objective: To discuss the differences of inflammatory parameters such as procalcitonin (PCT), C-reactive protein (CRP), endotoxin, white blood cell (WBC), neutrophil ratio (Neut%) in blood of septic patients caused by bacterial bloodstream infection, and their correlation with the severity of disease.
Methods: 292 septic patients with positive blood culture were enrolled in Beijing Shijitan Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University from February 2012 to March 2015, and their gender, age, acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II (APACHEII) score, bacterial species and other general information were retrospectively collected. The differences in inflammatory parameters (PCT, CRP, endotoxin, WBC, Neut%) in septic patients caused by bacterial bloodstream infection were compared, their correlations with APACHEII scores within 24 hours were analyzed, and their diagnostic efficacies were also analyzed.

Objective: To investigate the short term predictive value of hemodynamic parameters during fluid resuscitation in patients with septic shock.
Methods: Data of 76 patients with septic shock admitted to Department of Critical Care Medicine of Beijing Shijitan Hospital from January 2013 to October 2014 were retrospectively analyzed. The hemodynamic parameters were monitored by pulse indicator continuous cardiac output ( PiCCO ), including mean arterial pressure ( MAP ), stroke volume index ( SVI ), cardiac index ( CI ), global ejection fraction ( GEF ), global end diastolic volume index ( GEDVI ), intrathoracic blood volume index ( ITBVI ), extravascular lung water index ( EVLWI ), systemic vascular resistance index ( SVRI ), and pulmonary vascular permeability index ( PVPI ).

Objective: To investigate the expression of different inflammatory variables, such as procalcitonin (PCT), C-reactive protein (CRP), and endotoxin in septic patients with bacterial bloodstream infection, in order to assess the value of these variables in early diagnosis.
Methods: The clinical data of 132 bacterial bloodstream infection patients with clinical diagnosis of sepsis in intensive care unit (ICU) of Beijing Shijitan Hospital of Capital Medical University from February 2012 to May 2013 were analyzed retrospectively. Patients were divided into Gram-negative (G(-)) bacterial bloodstream infection group (n=98) and Gram-positive (G(+)) bacterial bloodstream infection group (n=34) according to the result of blood culture.

Objective: To investigate the predictor value of peripheral blood procalcitonin (PCT) levels in the evaluation of prognosis of patients with septic shock.
Methods: A prospective study was conducted. Eighty-four patients with septic shock in intensive care unit (ICU) of Beijing Shijitan Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University were enrolled from May, 2011 to January, 2012.

Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy and value of intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) with vasoactive drugs for septic shock patients.
Methods: A method of single-centre registry was conducted. Data were collected from 78 consecutive septic shock patients in late stage in intensive care unit (ICU) of Beijing Shijitan Hospital diagnosed between July 2006 and October 2010.
