Quantitative assessment of left ventricular function by left ventricular pressure-strain loop in patients with end-stage renal disease.

A new and non-invasive technology of left ventricular pressure-strain loop (LV-PSL) has recently been used to provide information on myocardial work (MW) and identify subtle modifications in cardiac function. This study aimed to use LV-PSL for early identification of changes in LV structure and MW in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Methods： Seventy-two patients with ESRD were divided into two groups based on undergoing maintenance hemodialysis (MHD), namely the dialysis group (ESRD-D group) and non-dialysis group (ESRD-ND group).

Left atrial function in uraemic patients: Four-dimensional automatic left atrial quantitative technology study.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the utility of left atrial volume and function in uraemic patients using four-dimensional automatic left atrial quantification (4D auto LAQ) technology.

Methods: Thirty-four undialysed uraemic patients (U-ND group), 60 dialysed uraemic patients (U-D group), and 32 healthy volunteers (N group) were enrolled in our current study. Conventional echocardiographic parameters were recorded, and left atrial volume and strain parameters were analysed to determine statistical differences among the three groups.

In this study, in order to promote chromosome abnormality carriers eugenics, three patients with adverse pregnancy histories were examined by cytogenetics and their pedigrees further analyzed. In this retrospective study, approximately anticoagulant peripheral venous blood from the patients was collected for peripheral blood cell culture and chromosome analysis. Karyotypes were analyzed in the BEIONMED karyotype analysis system.

Dual elastography to discriminate adjacent stages of fibrosis and inflammation in chronic hepatitis B: A prospective multicenter study.

Background And Aims: To evaluate the diagnostic performance of dual elastography (dual-elasto) in continuous differentiation of liver fibrosis and inflammation in a large prospective cohort of patients with chronic HBV.

Approach And Results: Adults with positive HBsAg for at least 6 months were recruited from 12 medical centers. Participants underwent dual-elasto evaluations.

Left Ventricular Function in Patients on Maintenance Hemodialysis: A Three-Dimensional Speckle-Tracking Imaging Study.

Introduction: Although maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) appears to induce some risk factors and strengthen cardiac function, the morbidity of ESRD patients receiving hemodialysis remains high. This study aimed to identify left ventricular (LV) structural and functional abnormalities in ESRD patients on MHD using three-dimensional speckle-tracking imaging (3D-STI).

Methods: Eighty-five ESRD patients with normal LV ejection fraction (LVEF >50%) participated in this study, including 55 MHD patients comprising the chronic kidney disease (CKD) V-D group and 30 nondialysis patients comprising the CKD V-ND group.

Hepatocellular carcinoma with inferior vena cava and right atrial tumor thrombus: A case report.

This is a case report of a 45-year-old patient admitted with the symptom of bilateral leg swelling. Ultrasonography revealed a hyperechoic mass in the right lobe of the liver, which invaded the right hepatic vein (RHV) and extended into the inferior vena cava (IVC) and right atrium (RA). Based on the high alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) level and the ultrasonography findings, the patient was diagnosed as having hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with a RHV, IVC, and RA tumor thrombus and secondary Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS).
