Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Xiao-xu-ming decoction (XXMD), a prominent traditional Chinese medicinal formula historically revered for stroke treatment, demonstrates pronounced efficacy in ameliorating ischemic stroke injury.
Aim Of The Study: This study aims to investigate the effects and mechanisms of XXMD on neuroprotection subsequent to cerebral ischemia/reperfusion in vivo and in vitro.
Materials And Methods: Neurobehavioral test, TTC staining, HE staining and nissl staining were used to examine the neuroprotective effect of XXMD on cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury induced by middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) in rats.
Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Ischemic stroke is an important cause of death and disability worldwide. Xiao-xu-ming Decoction (XXMD) is a classic prescription for the treatment of stroke patients, which has been widely used in China and has significant therapeutic effect, but the therapeutic target and mechanism are still unclear.
Aim Of The Study: The current study aimed to investigate temporal alternation of synaptic damage and the protective effects of XXMD on synaptic damage following cerebral ischemia and reperfusion in vivo.

The model of cerebral IR injury was established using the middle cerebral artery occlusion method. This study aims to explore the effect of Xiaoxuming Decoction on synaptic plasticity in rats with acute cerebral ischemia-reperfusion. A rat model of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury was established by middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO). Rats were randomly assigned into a sham group, a MCAO group, and a Xiaoxuming Decoction(60 g·kg~(-1)·d~(-1)) group.
