Sex differences in mental rotation are a well-documented phenomenon in cognitive research, with implications for the differing prevalence of neuropsychiatric disorders such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Alzheimer's disease (AD) and major depressive disorder (MDD) between the sexes. Despite extensive documentation, the biological mechanism underpinning these differences remain elusive. Numerous defensins constitute a family of cationic antimicrobial peptides with high degrees of sequence variability, and in-depth characterization of their structural basis and antibacterial mechanisms remains limited. Here, a representative scorpion defensin, BmKDfsin4, with two distinct hydrophobic and basic residue clusters, was extensively investigated. The hydrophobic residue cluster, formed by Phe2, Pro5, Phe6, Phe28 and Leu29 residues, strongly influences the antibacterial activity of BmKDfsin4 against Gram-positive bacteria.

Previous studies have shown that major depressive disorder (MDD) patients exhibit structural and functional impairments, but few studies have investigated changes in higher-order coupling between structure and function. Here, we systematically investigated the effect of MDD on higher-order coupling between structural connectivity (SC) and functional connectivity (FC). Each brain region was mapped into embedding vector by the node2vec algorithm.

Graph neural networks for preference social recommendation.

Social recommendation aims to improve the performance of recommendation systems with additional social network information. In the state of art, there are two major problems in applying graph neural networks (GNNs) to social recommendation: (i) Social network is connected through social relationships, not item preferences, , there may be connected users with completely different preferences, and (ii) the user representation of current graph neural network layer of social network and user-item interaction network is the output of the mixed user representation of the previous layer, which causes information redundancy. To address the above problems, we propose graph neural networks for preference social recommendation.

Career Adaptability, Work Engagement, and Employee Well-Being Among Chinese Employees: The Role of Guanxi.

The present study examined whether and how career adaptability predicts employee well-being (EWB) based on career construction theory. A three-wave questionnaire design was used to collect the data, and 338 employees participated in the study. The results suggest that career adaptability has a significant effect on work engagement, which, in turn, predicts EWB.
