Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is a crucial factor that poses a significant threat to human health. DILI process leads to the changes of reactive oxygen species and reactive nitrogen species content in cells, which leads to oxidative and nitrosative stress in cells. However, the high reactivity of hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and peroxynitrite (ONOO⁻), combined with a lack of in situ imaging techniques, has hindered a detailed understanding of their roles in DILI.

This study focuses on αKG-NHFe enzyme FtmOx1, which catalyzes endoperoxidation, dealkylation, and alcohol oxidation reactions in verruculogen biosynthesis. We explore the hypothesis that the conformational dynamics of the active site Y224 confer the multifunctional activities of FtmOx1-catalysis.

Background: In an aging society, depression has become a public health challenge that can lead to many adverse health outcomes; evidence addressing the link between depression and motor cognitive risk syndrome (MCR, a novel syndrome that effectively predicts dementia) is still lacking.

Methods: A PRISMA checklist was used to systematically review the relevant peer-reviewed literature for the primary data analysis. A computer search of CNKI, Wan Fang Data, CBM, VIP, PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library, Scopus, and Ovid databases, all from creation to March 15, 2023.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a highly aggressive liver cancer with limited therapeutic options, and enhancing radiosensitivity remains a key challenge in improving treatment outcomes. Quercetin (Que) can inhibit the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC); however, its effect on HCC radiosensitivity remains unclear. This research investigates the role of Que in regulating HCC growth and radiosensitivity, aiming to provide a scientific foundation for enhancing the clinical efficacy of radiation therapy in HCC.

The association between oral health and mild cognitive impairment in community-dwelling older adults.

Background: Older adults with cognitive impairment can experience poor oral health due to reduced self-care ability, yet the impact of various oral health indicators on the cognitive ability remains unclear. We investigated the relationship between oral health indicators and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in older adults.

Methods: A cross-sectional study of 234 older adults aged 65 years or over was performed form January to March 2023 at health screening departments of hospitals.

Coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD) refers to structural and functional abnormalities of the microcirculation that impair myocardial perfusion. CMD plays a pivotal role in numerous cardiovascular diseases, including myocardial ischemia with non-obstructive coronary arteries, heart failure, and acute coronary syndromes. This review summarizes recent advances in CMD pathophysiology, assessment, and treatment strategies, as well as ongoing challenges and future research directions.

Reconfigurable Vertical Phototransistor with MoTe Homojunction for High-Speed Rectifier and Multivalued Logical Circuits.

The most reported two-dimensional (2D) reconfigurable multivalued logic (RMVL) devices primarily involve a planar configuration and carrier transport, which limits the high-density circuit integration and high-speed logic operation. In this work, the vertical transistors with reconfigurable MoTe homojunction are developed for low-power, high-speed, multivalued logic circuits. Through top/bottom dual-gate modulation, the transistors can be configured into four modes: P-i-N, N-i-P, P-i-P, and N-i-N.

Comparison of Nutritional Quality and Functional Active Substances in Different Parts of Eight Lotus Seed Cultivars.

In this study, "Honghu White Lotus", "Red Lotus (HH)", "Hunan Cunshan Lotus (CS)", "Wuyi Xuanlian", "Space Lotus 36", "Fujian Jianning White Lotus (JB)", "Jiangsu Yangzhou Lotus (JY)", and "Suzhou Dongshan Lotus" were selected as experimental subjects. The lotus seed flesh and lotus plumule of each cultivar were selected for nutritional quality and functional active substance analyses. Comparing different cultivars of lotus seeds, the protein and crude fat contents of JY flesh were the highest at 65.

Research has demonstrated that prolonged exposure to inflammatory stimuli leads to the development of "immune tolerance" in specialized immune cells such as monocytes and macrophages, serving as a mechanism to prevent tissue damage and curb the inflammatory cascade. However, our recent investigation revealed that immune tolerance did not effectively regulate the production of IL-6 in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) when stimulated by a Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) ligand Pam3CSK4, which is a potent activator of the pro-inflammatory transcription factor NF-κB.

Meaning in life, which has two possible sources: self-acceptance and social support, is essential to the mental health and development of college students. The current study aims to further clarify the symptom-level relations between meaning in life, self-acceptance, and social support, finding possible ways to improve meaning in the life of college students. Thousand three hundred and forty-eight Chinese college students completed the online questionnaire, including Self-acceptance Questionnaire, Social Support Rating Scale, and Meaning in Life Questionnaire and the data from 1,263 participants was used.
