Intensive carbon combustion in sintering packed bed via steam spraying: An experimental study on carbon monoxide emission reduction.

Improving the combustion efficiency of solid fuels is important for reducing carbon monoxide emissions in the iron ore sintering process. In this paper, the surface steam spraying technology is introduced in the sintering process based on the auxiliary combustion effect of steam on coke, and its potential to reduce carbon monoxide emissions is demonstrated. Thermogravimetric analysis experiments of coke breeze in air and air-steam mixed atmosphere are carried out, and the results show that the introduction of steam can reduce the concentration of carbon monoxide in the exhaust gas from 183×10 to 78×10.

Astragaloside IV Alleviates Atorvastatin-Induced Hepatotoxicity via AMPK/SIRT1 Pathway.

Introduction: Atorvastatin (ATO) is often used to reduce blood lipids and prevent atherosclerosis, but excessive use of ATO will lead to hepatotoxicity. This paper investigated the effects of astragaloside IV (AS IV), which has multiple biological functions, on ATO-induced hepatotoxicity and the underlying mechanism.

Methods: ATO treatment induced a rat model of hepatotoxicity, followed by AS IV treatment.

Effects of tai chi on postural control during dual-task stair negotiation in knee osteoarthritis: a randomised controlled trial protocol.

Introduction: Stair ascent and descent require complex integration between sensory and motor systems; individuals with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) have an elevated risk for falls and fall injuries, which may be in part due to poor dynamic postural control during locomotion. Tai chi exercise has been shown to reduce fall risks in the ageing population and is recommended as one of the non-pharmocological therapies for people with KOA. However, neuromuscular mechanisms underlying the benefits of tai chi for persons with KOA are not clearly understood.

Association of uncoupling protein gene polymorphisms with essential hypertension in a northeastern Han Chinese population.

Uncoupling proteins (UCPs) belong to the family of mitochondrial transporter proteins and mediate regulated proton leak across the inner mitochondrial membrane. The UCPs play an important role in energy homeostasis and reactive oxygen species (ROS) release, and have been established as candidate genes for obesity, diabetes and hypertension. This study examined the possible association between the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of UCP1-3 genes and essential hypertension (EH) in a northeastern Han Chinese population.

[Kinetic mechanism of electroacupuncture for stair climbing in knee osteoarthritis patients].

Objective: To observe the kinetic change that reflects joint loading in different planes during stair climbing in knee osteoarthritis (KOA) after electroacupuncture (EA) by three-dimensional motion analysis, so as to provide reference for its biomechanical mechanism treated with acupuncture.

Methods: Forty KOA patients, in accordance with the random number table, were assigned into an observation group and a control group, 20 cases in each one and finally 18 cases completed. Acupoints in the observation group were Neixiyan (EX-LE 4), Dubi (ST 35), Yanglingquan (GB 34), Yinlingquan (SP 9), Xuehai (SP 10), Liangqiu (ST 34) and Zusanli (ST 36); points in the control groups were located about 2 cm next to the above acupoints with shallow acupuncture.
