Cerebral small vessel disease is a common disease endangering human health due to its insidious and repeated onset and progressive aggravation. White matter hyperintensities (WMHs) are one of the classic imaging markers of cerebral small vessel disease. The term 'WMHs' was first proposed by Hachinski in 1987.

Viral infections can cause cellular pathway derangements, cell death, and immunopathological responses, leading to host inflammation. Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), produced by the microbiota, have emerged as a potential therapeutic for viral infections due to their ability to modulate these processes. However, SCFAs have been reported to have both beneficial and detrimental effects, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of the underlying mechanisms.

To address this challenge, we combined both impregnation coating technology and conjugated electrospinning technology to develop an electro-assisted impregnation core-spinning technology (EAICST), which enables us to simply construct a sheath-core electrochemical sensing yarn (TPFV/CPP yarn) via coating PEDOT:PSS-coated carbon fibers (CPP) with polyurethane (TPU)/polyacrylonitrile (PAN)/poloxamer (F127)/valinomycin as shell. The TPFV/CPP yarn was sewn into the fabric and integrated with a sensor to achieve a detachable feature and efficiently monitor K levels in sweat.

Oral lichen planus (OLP) is one of the most common chronic diseases; however, its etiology remains unknown. More and more studies have revealed that emotional instability is one of the risk factors for the onset and expansion of OLP, especially in patients suffering from depression, anxiety disorder, and acute stress. In this case report, we had a 32-year-old female OLP patient who had no obvious response to conventional OLP drugs.

Epidemiological and clinical information from these cases, and the drug susceptibility testing results of the isolates were collected and analyzed.

For the common aerobic biological treatment, nitrification is a key step, but nitrifying bacteria are notably sensitive to inhibition by chlorinated phenols. In this work, normal activated sludge (containing nitrifying biomass) was acclimated to 2,4,6-trichlorophenol (TCP).

It is common that biological wastewater-treatment processes are exposed to inputs of toxic compounds, such as phenolics. Due to their slow growth rate, nitrifying bacteria are most susceptible to inhibition that can lead to loss of nitrification capacity. Here, a microbial community containing nitrifying bacteria was acclimated to phenol, and it developed resistance to phenol inhibition and maintained nitrification activity.

Here we show the design of a photoregulated split aptaswitch (PSA) for the challenging small-molecule biorecognition and its sensing application. The PSA specifically binds with the target in a binary reaction, and can easily rule out false positive signals by azobenzene photoisomerization, exhibiting an approximately 50-fold improved sensitivity over a control assay.

Anammox granule activity decreased with increasing Cr(VI) concentration and pre-exposure time in batch tests, and the 50% inhibition concentration of Cr(VI) on anammox biomass was 296.5 mg L.
