The novel polyvinyl alcohol/chitosan films incorporated with vanillin/zein/κ-carrageenan nanoparticles (VZCNPs) were developed. The polyvinyl alcohol/chitosan/vanillin nanoparticles (PVA/CS/NPs) films had exhibited enhanced tensile strength, hydrophobicity, antioxidant activities and antimicrobial efficacy, all of which varied with the different concentrations of VZCNPs. Notably, the PVA/CS/NPs-10 film exhibited exceptional performance, with a reduced Moisture Content of 15.

Antibiotics play an essential role in the aquaculture industry, but their overuse and weak degradability inevitably lead to light to severe residues in natural and aquaculture environments. Most studies were interested in the occurrence, distribution, and ecological risks of a limited number of antibiotics in natural environments (rivers, lakes, and coastal regions) with a minor focus on antibiotic presence in either water, sediments, or organisms in aquaculture environments located in specific regions. In this study, we conducted a comprehensive investigation into the occurrence and distribution of up to 32 antibiotics [including 15 quinolones (QNs) and 17 sulfonamides (SAs)] in organisms and their corresponding environmental matrices from 26 freshwater aquaculture ponds in Northeast Zhejiang, China.

Pentachlorophenol (PCP) has attracted wide attention due to its high toxicity, persistence, and bioaccumulation. In this study, a sensitive UPLC-MS/MS method for the determination of PCP in seafood samples was developed and validated. Semicarbazide (SEM), the metabolite of antibiotic nitrofurazone, is often used as the biomarker to determine the use of nitrofurazone. Frequent false-positive events of SEM have brought great trouble to the aquatic industry in international trade. A simple, rapid, sensitive and high throughput method is described, based on solid-phase disk extraction (SPDE) and gas chromatography-electron capture detection, for the determination of chlorobenzens (CBs) in water samples. The proposed SPDE sample pretreatment method was initially optimized and the optimum experimental conditions were found to be as follows: 500 mL water sample (pH 2.5) extracted and enriched by an Empore 3-stn C18 (octadecyl) SPE disk at flow rate of 5 to 50 mL/min, eluted by 5 mL of acetone and 3 × 5 mL of methylene dichloride.

Methyl-3-quinoxaline-2-carboxylic acid (MQCA) is the last major remaining detectable metabolite of Olaquindox in animal tissue. A rapid, sensitive and specific ultra performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) method was developed for the detection and quantification of MQCA in fish tissue using deuterated quinoxaline-2-carboxylic acid (d(4)-QCA) as internal standard.
