Objective: Acute lung injury (ALI) is an acute clinical syndrome characterized by uncontrolled inflammation response, which causes high mortality and poor prognosis. The present study determined the protective effect and underlying mechanism of Periplaneta americana extract (PAE) against lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced ALI.
Methods: The viability of MH-S cells was measured by MTT.
Three-dimensional (3D) and two-dimensional (2D) Ag-based zwitterionic metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) [Ag(Cedcp)] (, 3D, HCedcpBr denotes -(carboxyethyl)-(3,5-dicarboxyl)-pyridinium bromide) and {[Ag(Cmdcp)(HO)]·4HO} (, 2D, HCmdcpBr denotes -(carboxymethyl)-(3,5-dicarboxyl)-pyridinium bromide) have been prepared and investigated for antimicrobial activity via minimal inhibition concentration (MIC) test and killing kinetic assay. Both MOFs and show good water stability and solubility ascribed to their characteristic aromatic rings and positively charged pyridinium of the ligands, as well as the presence of Ag on their surface, leading to strong antimicrobial activity and a wide antimicrobial spectrum toward Gram-negative and positive bacteria. The results indicated that MOF possesses a faster antibacterial activity (60 min) than MOF (120 min).

Enantioselectivity of the chiral stationary phase and Chiralcel OF suggested promising chiral separation ability of the new cellulose chiral stationary phase. In addition, the effect of trifluoroacetic acid, diethylamine on enantioselectivity and retention factors on the chiral stationary phase in high performance liquid chromatography was investigated.

Methods: Wistar rats were subjected to intragastric administration of 60% acidified ethanol to induce gastric lesions following an 8-day oral pretreatment with WCE at 0, 25, 100 and 150 mg/kg or with saline. The levels of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging, myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity and total antioxidant capacity in the gastric tissues were determined.

Objective: To assess the diagnostic value of multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA) for detection of common chromosome aneuploidy in amniotic fluid (AF) cells in order to obtain an accurate, rapid, cost-effective and high-throughput method in routine prenatal clinical practice.
Methods: The MLPA test was performed on 500 AF samples by using kit P095 and the results were obtained by using analysis software RH-MLPA-v511. The results were compared with that from fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and traditional karyotyping (TK).
Because no vaccine or effective therapy is available, thousands of people with HCV have died in recent years. Cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) play a critical role in the host cellular immune response against HCV. CTL epitopes in HCV core protein have been identified and used in vaccine development.

Objective: To investigate the effect of target therapy with cisplatin (CDDP)-loaded magnetic nanoparticles (MNP) in combination with chemoradiotherapy against nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell growth in nude mice.
Methods: Thirty-six BALB/c mice with implanted tumor of CNE-2 cells were randomly divided into 6 groups (n=6), including the control group, radiotherapy group, CDDP group, CDDP plus radiotherapy group, CDDP-MNP group, and CDDP-MNP plus radiotherapy group. The mice were given 0.

Objective: To explore the risk factors of gastric cancer in the rural area of Henan province.
Methods: Three hundred and twenty-five families with gastric cancer and 325 control families (1010 persons in each group) were selected among the rural residents in 4 counties of Henan province. Totally 2020 people were surveyed and assessed using population-based case-control family study.
