Application of a New Type of Protective Sputum Suction Device in Clinic against Cross-Infection between Medical Staff and Patients.

Objective: To explore the clinical application of a new type of protective sputum suction device (PSSD) in patients with tracheotomy or tracheal intubation and to evaluate the protective effect of PSSD against cross-infection between medical staffs and patients.

Methods: A novel PSSD was designed which can assist closed sputum suction operation without disconnecting the ventilator. 32 patients with tracheotomy were included to study the protective effect and safety of this device.

Ferrocene-Labelled Electroactive Aptamer-Based Sensors (Aptasensors) for Glycated Haemoglobin.

Glycated haemoglobin (HbA) is a diagnostic biomarker for type 2 diabetes. Traditional analytical methods for haemoglobin (Hb) detection rely on chromatography, which requires significant instrumentation and is labour-intensive; consequently, miniaturized devices that can rapidly sense HbA are urgently required. With this research, we report on an aptamer-based sensor (aptasensor) for the rapid and selective electrochemical detection of HbA.

Here we demonstrate the simple construction and characterization of a pyrenyl glycoside-coated 2D MoS material composite capable of selectively capturing proteins and live cells on an electrode, as determined by differential pulse voltammetry.

Probing Mannose-Binding Proteins That Express on Live Cells and Pathogens with a Diffusion-to-Surface Ratiometric Graphene Electrosensor.

This paper describes the development of a "diffusion-to-surface" ratiometric graphene electrosensor for the selective detection of live cells and pathogens that highly express mannose-binding proteins (MBPs). MBPs have been implicated in many pathological processes and are identified on specific types of bacteria. Consequently, MBPs are a promising biomarker for targeted disease diagnosis and therapy.
