Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a heterogeneous disease, and it usually develops after an antecedent infection, while rare cases develop following a central nervous system disease. Given the indeterminacy of prodromal infection symptoms and the overlap of symptoms with other neurological disorders, a rigorous clinical and neurological examination in conjunction with history is necessary for early diagnosis and treatment of GBS. Here we present a rare case of GBS following acute ischemic stroke which was different from previous reports such as GBS following hemorrhagic stroke or head trauma.

Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders, and sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) is the most severe outcome of refractory epilepsy. Arrhythmia is one of the heterogeneous factors in the pathophysiological mechanism of SUDEP with a high incidence in patients with refractory epilepsy, increasing the risk of premature death. The gene co-expressed in the brain and heart is supposed to be the genetic basis between epilepsy and arrhythmia, among which the gene encoding ion channel contributes to the prevalence of "cardiocerebral channelopathy" theory.
