This study investigates the efficacy of a novel tissue-engineered scaffold for nerve repair and functional reconstruction following injury. Utilizing stable jet electrospinning, we fabricated aligned ultrafine fibers from dopamine and poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA), further developing a biomimetic, oriented, and electroactive scaffold comprising poly(pyrrole) (PPy), polydopamine (PDA), and PLLA through dual in situ polymerizations. The scaffold demonstrated enhanced cell adhesion and reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging capabilities and promoted the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) into Schwann-like cells, essential for nerve regeneration.

The request for both high catalytic selectivity and high catalytic activity is rather challenging, particularly for catalysis systems with the primary and side reactions having comparable energy barriers. Here in this study, we simultaneously optimized the selectivity and activity for acetylene semi-hydrogenation by rationally and continuously varying the doping ratio of Zn atoms on the surface of Pd particles in Pd/ZnO catalysts. In the reaction temperature range of 40-200 °C, the conversion of acetylene was close to ∼100%, and the selectivity for ethylene exceeded 90% (the highest ethylene selectivity, ∼98%).

High malignancy is a prominent characteristic of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC), emphasizing the necessity for further elucidation of the potential mechanisms underlying cancer progression. Aneuploidy and copy number variation (CNV) partially contribute to the heightened malignancy observed in EOC; however, the precise features of aneuploidy and their underlying molecular patterns, as well as the relationship between CNV and aneuploidy in EOC, remain unclear. In this study, we employed single-cell sequencing data along with The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) to investigate aneuploidy and CNV in EOC.

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) express pluripotent markers and share many features with normal pluripotent stem cells. It is possible that immunity induced by embryonic stem cells (ESCs) and induced pluripotent stem cells- (IPSCs-) based vaccines may selectively target CSCs. In our study, cells expressing the pluripotent marker CD133 in the murine ovarian cancer cell-line ID8 were isolated and identified as CSCs.

Effective repair and functional recovery of large peripheral nerve deficits are urgent clinical needs. A biofunctional electroactive scaffold typically acts as a "bridge" for the repair of large nerve defects. In this study, we constructed a biomimetic piezoelectric and conductive aligned polypyrrole (PPy)/polydopamine (PDA)/poly-l-lactic acid (PLLA) electrospun fibrous scaffold to improve the hydrophilicity and cellular compatibility of PLLA and restore the weakened piezoelectric effect of PDA, which is beneficial in promoting Schwann cell differentiation and dorsal root ganglion neuronal extension and alignment.

Wearable electronics with applications in healthcare, human-machine interfaces, and robotics often explore complex manufacturing procedures and are not disposable. Although the use of conductive pencil patterns on cellulose paper provides inexpensive, disposable sensors, they have limited stretchability and are easily affected by variations in the ambient environment. This work presents the combination of pencil-on-paper with the hydrophobic fumed SiO (Hf-SiO) coating and stretchable kirigami structures from laser cutting to prepare a superhydrophobic, stretchable pencil-on-paper multifunctional sensing platform.
