Humans are exposed to disinfection by-products through oral, inhalation, and dermal routes, during bathing and swimming, potentially causing skin lesions, asthma, and bladder cancer. Nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (NRF2) is a master regulator of the adaptive antioxidant response via the antioxidant reaction elements (ARE) orchestrating the transcription of a large group of antioxidant and detoxification genes. Here we used an immortalized human keratinocyte model HaCaT cells to investigate NRF2-ARE as a responder and protector in the acute cytotoxicity of seven haloacetonitriles (HANs), including chloroacetonitrile (CAN), bromoacetonitrile (BAN), iodoacetonitrile (IAN), bromochloroacetonitrile (BCAN), dichloroacetonitrile (DCAN), dibromoacetonitrile (DBAN), and trichloroacetonitrile (TCAN) found in drinking water and swimming pools.

Deep subspace learning is an important branch of self-supervised learning and has been a hot research topic in recent years, but current methods do not fully consider the individualities of temporal data and related tasks. In this paper, by transforming the individualities of motion capture data and segmentation task as the supervision, we propose the local self-expression subspace learning network. Specifically, considering the temporality of motion data, we use the temporal convolution module to extract temporal features.

Immunotherapy is one of the most promising clinical modalities for the treatment of malignant tumors and has shown excellent therapeutic outcomes in clinical settings. However, it continues to face several challenges, including long treatment cycles, high costs, immune-related adverse events, and low response rates. Thus, it is critical to predict the response rate to immunotherapy by using imaging technology in the preoperative and intraoperative.

The rich interplay of disorder, non-Hermiticity, and topology is epitomized by the recently proposed non-Hermitian topological Anderson insulator that hosts a plethora of exotic phenomena. Here we experimentally simulate the non-Hermitian topological Anderson insulator using disordered photonic quantum walks, and characterize its localization and topological properties.

Pulmonary fibrosis is a devastating lung disease with few therapeutic options. CHIT1 (chitinase 1), an 18 glycosyl hydrolase family member, contributes to the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis through the regulation of TGF-β (transforming growth factor-β) signaling and effector function. Therefore, CHIT1 is a potential therapeutic target for pulmonary fibrosis.

Nanogels serve as multipurpose and constructed vectors formed intramolecular cross-linking to generate drug delivery systems, which is attributed predominantly to their satisfactory biocompatibility, bio-responsiveness, high stability, and low toxicity. Recently, immunotherapy has experienced unprecedented growth and has become the preferred strategy for cancer treatment, and mainly involves the mobilisation of the immune system and an enhanced anti-tumour immunity of the tumour microenvironment.

Background: Esophageal cancer is a common cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Cutaneous metastasis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma is rare, particularly in diffuse skin metastasis.
Case Summary: In this case report, we describe an 82-year-old male who was diagnosed with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
We identified a ternary hybrid catalyst system composed of an acridinium photoredox catalyst, a thiophosphoric imide (TPI) catalyst, and a titanium complex catalyst that promoted an intermolecular addition reaction of organic molecules with various ketones through sp C-H bond activation. The thiyl radical generated via single-electron oxidation of TPI by the excited photoredox catalyst abstracted a hydrogen atom from organic molecules such as toluene, benzyl alcohol, alkenes, aldehydes, and THF. The thus-generated carbon-centered radical species underwent addition to ketones and aldehydes.

However, conventional chemotherapeutics was found to be associated with deficient recognition of tumor, low uptake efficiency, insolubility, short circulation, poor biocompatibility and low therapeutic outcomes. Herein, the active targeting redox-responsive mannosylated prodrug nanocolloids (HM NCs) were constructed for enhanced chemotherapy of colon cancer.

Formaldehyde (FA), as a reactive signaling molecule, plays an important role in living systems through a diverse array of cellular pathways. However, no systematic investigation for detection and imaging of FA by rendering cells transiently permeable has been reported yet. Specifically, we developed a new cell-permeable fluorescence probe functionality that was enhanced cellular entry efficiency and well retained intracellularly after activation for visualizing endogenous FA changes.

Although a number of studies have confirmed the relationship between obesity and precocious puberty, little is known about the pleiotropic genes of obesity and precocious puberty and the interaction between genes and environment. There are four objectives: (1) to analyze the incidence of precocious puberty in the general population in China; (2) to verify the direct effect of obesity on children's precocious puberty using a variety of methods; (3) to verify the effect of obesity and its risk gene polymorphism on precocious puberty in a prospective cohort study; and (4) to analyze the interaction effect of genes and environment on pubertal development.

However, the treatment outcome is not always satisfactory owing to the unsustainable HO supply from tumor microenvironment (TME). Herein, a platinum (Pt) nanourchin-based multi-enzymatic platform (referred to PGMA) is established by surface conjugation of glucose oxidase (GOx) capped with manganese carbonyl (MnCO) and loading 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole (3-AT).

Adolescent depression is a worldwide public health concern and has contributed to significant socioeconomic burden. Investigating the association between time spent on social media (TSSM) and depression may provide guidance toward the prevention and intervention of adolescent depression. However, related literature reported mixed findings in terms of the relationship between TSSM and depression in adolescents.

We aimed to elucidate the endoscopic features of HGINc compared with esophageal high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia dominated by architectural atypia (HGINa). All patients pathologically diagnosed as esophageal high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia after endoscopic submucosal dissection at our center between January 2018 and December 2019 were included in this study.

Silver sulfide (AgS) is a traditional semiconductor material, however, the photoelectric properties of AgS particles under different environments are still lacking. In this paper, we reported the preparation of AgS particles and their photoelectric properties under different environments. Results showed that the photoelectric performance of AgS particles was closely related to the environment.

Methods: This is an observational multicenter study of 2,417 women, referred to colposcopy after receiving cervical cancer screening results.
Substantial evidence suggests a widespread increase in global vegetation gross primary production (GPP) since the 1980s. If the increasing trend of GPP remains unchanged in the future, it is considered to be the persistence of increasing GPP. However, it is still unknown whether the vegetation increasing GPP is persistent under the interactive effects of climate change and land use changes in Northwest China.

Chemotherapy dose intensity is a momentous parameter of antitumor clinical medication. In certain clinical trials, the actual application dose of the chemotherapeutic drugs is frequently different from the prescribed dose. The chemotherapy dose intensity completed in different trials is also variable, which has an impact on the treatment efficacy, disease prognosis and patient safety.
