Cadmium (Cd) is a highly toxic metal in human body, and therefore understanding the immunotoxicity of Cd is significant for public health. This research investigates the interplay between Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) and Apelin (APLN) in regulating autophagy, with implications for placental cell senescence and apoptosis in pre-eclampsia (PE). We manipulated APLN expression using sgRNA to study its effects on ROS levels and subsequent cellular responses. Our findings reveal that APLN overexpression elevates ROS production, accelerating cellular senescence and apoptosis.

This is the first case report of successful localization of a calcified root canal under the guidance of a dynamic navigation system (DNS) for complete root canal retreatment and aesthetic restoration after a failed attempt to locate the calcified root canal with a traditional dental operating microscope (DOM).

Case Presentation: The patient was scheduled for root canal treatment for a labially inclined maxillary central incisor and post-core crown restoration with resin veneers in another hospital, but the calcified root canal could not be located with a microscope, so the patient was referred to our department.

Sulfoxides are essential in pharmaceuticals and chemicals, yet traditional thioether oxidation struggles with selectivity and sustainability. This study introduces carbonized polymer dots (CPDs) as effective photocatalysts for ecofriendly thioether to sulfoxide oxidation, using water and ethanol to enhance reaction selectivity and efficiency under 455 nm blue light. These catalysts not only show remarkable efficacy under mild conditions but also display high selectivity for sulfoxide formation, proving versatile across a broad range of substrates.
