Objective: To explore the efficacy and safety of Juan Bi Pill (JBP) in treatment of active rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
Methods: From February 2017 to May 2018, 115 participants from 4 centers were randomly divided into JBP group (57 cases) and placebo group (58 cases) in a 1:1 ratio using a random number table method. Participants received a dose of JBP (4 g, twice a day, orally) combined with methotrexate (MTX, 10 mg per week) or placebo (4 g, twice a day, orally) combined with MTX for 12 weeks.
Background: Primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) stands as a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by an elusive pathogenesis. The synergy of single-cell RNA sequencing and Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis provides an opportunity to comprehensively unravel the contributory role of monocytes/macrophages in the intricate pathogenesis of pSS.
Methods: Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of various types of immune cells were analyzed after annotating single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data.
Objective: The enhancer of zeste 2 polycomb repressive complex 2 subunit (EZH2) can regulate osteogenesis and osteoclastogenesis. This study aimed to further explore the effects of EZH2 modification on ferroptosis and the osteoblast-osteoclast balance in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in vitro and in vivo.
Methods: Bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells were transfected with EZH2 overexpression (oeEZH2) and EZH2 shRNA (shEZH2) plasmids with or without ferrostatin-1 (Fer-1) treatment and subjected to an osteoblast differentiation assay.
Primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) is a chronic autoimmune disease primarily affecting exocrine glands such as the salivary glands, leading to impaired secretion and sicca symptoms. As the mainstay of salivation, salivary gland epithelial cells (SGECs) have an important role in the pathology of pSS. Emerging evidence suggests that the interplay between immunological factors and SGECs may not be the initial trigger or the sole mechanism responsible for xerostomia in pSS, challenging conventional perceptions.

Some evidence suggests that immune cells actively participated in the pathogenesis of both diseases. However, information on which cells are primarily involved in this process and how these cells mobilize, migrate and interact is still limited.

Pompe disease, also known as Glycogen Storage Disease Type II, is a rare disorder of glucose metabolism caused by congenital acid alpha-glucosidase (GAA) deficiency. A large amount of glycogen accumulates in the lysosomes, causing these to swell and rupture. Its incidence is about 1 in 40,000 to 1 in 50,000 newborns.

Immune and inflammatory responses have notable effects on all stages of AS. In this study, we modeled SLE combined with AS via intraperitoneal injection of pristane (2,6,10,14-tetramethylpentadecane) into apolipoprotein E-knockout ( ) mice that had accelerated atherosclerotic lesions compared with wild-type (WT) mice.

Reactive arthritis (ReA) is defined as inflammatory arthritis secondary to an extra-articular infection with a key genetic background, HLA-B27. However, to date, the diagnosis and classification remain incomplete. The study focused on the similarities and differences in clinical manifestation, imaging features, and laboratory inspection between HLA-B27 negative patients and HLA-B27 positive patients in order to provide a reference for future development of diagnostic and classification criteria.

Previously synthesized bisimidazolium salts (C20 and C22) have been shown to selectively inhibit the activity of glycosyltransferases in cultured cancer cell homogenates. The current study investigated the anticancer effects of C20/C22 and the possible pathways through which these effects are achieved.

However, the mechanism of action remains to be elucidated. Herein, the anti-inflammatory and antioxidative activities of BHA and the targeted signaling pathways were explored with LPS-induced RAW264.

Homeodomain-leucine zipper (HD-Zip) II transcription factors (TFs) have been reported to play vital roles in diverse biological processes of plants. However, it remains unclear whether HD-Zip II TFs regulate secondary cell wall (SCW) in woody plants. In this study, we performed the functional characterization of a Populus trichocarpa HD-Zip II TF, PtrHAT22, which encodes a nuclear localized transcription repressor predominantly expressing in secondary developing tissues.

Although BPD was first reported 50 years ago, no specific drugs or efficient measures are yet available for prevention or treatment. Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) belongs to the insulin family.

Background: Si-Miao-San (SMS) is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine. This study aims to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effects of SMS on gouty arthritis and its potential mechanism of action.
Methods: The effects and mechanism of SMS were evaluated in monosodium urate (MSU)-treated mice or macrophages.
Background: Chemotherapy is still the main first-line treatment for advanced metastatic gastric cancer, but it has the limitations of serious side effects and drug resistance. Conventional liposome has been substantially used as drug carriers, but they lack targeting character with lower drug bioavailability in tumor tissues. Based on the above problems, a novel estrogen-targeted PEGylated liposome loaded with oxaliplatin (ES-SSL-OXA) was prepared to further improve the metabolic behavior, the safety profile, and the anti-tumor efficacy of oxaliplatin.

Introduction: This study aimed to explore the effects and mechanisms of salidroside (SAL) in airway inflammation in asthmatic mice.
Methods: Mice were sensitized with ovalbumin (OVA) to establish an asthma model. They were divided into the control group, OVA group, SAL low-dose group (SAL-L), SAL high-dose group (SAL-H), and dexamethasone (DXM) group.
Objective: Our previous study observed that long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) RP11-83J16.1 promoted rheumatoid arthritis (RA)-fibroblast-like synoviocyte (RA-FLS) proliferation, invasion and inflammation, which was downregulated by triptolide treatment. Therefore, the present study aimed to further investigate the mechanism and interaction between triptolide and lncRNA RP11-83J16.

Cells undergo proliferation and apoptosis, migration and differentiation via a number of cell surface receptors, most of which are heavily glycosylated. This review discusses receptor glycosylation and the known roles of glycans on the functions of receptors expressed in diverse cell types. We included growth factor receptors that have an intracellular tyrosine kinase domain, growth factor receptors that have a serine/threonine kinase domain, and cell-death-inducing receptors.
