Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a complex neurodegenerative disease that affects elderly individuals, characterized by senile plaques formed by extracellular amyloid beta (Aβ). Autophagy dysfunction is a manifestation of protein homeostasis imbalance in patients with AD, but its relationship with Aβ remains unclear. Here, we showed that in Aβ transgenic Aβ activated the TOR pathway and reduced the nuclear entry of HLH-30, leading to autophagy dysfunction characterized by autophagosome accumulation.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe zinc-air battery (ZAB) performance and stability strongly depend on the structure of bifunctional electrocatalyst for oxygen reduction/evolution reaction (ORR/OER). In this work, we combine the tip and heterogeneous effects to construct cobalt/cobalt oxide heterostructure nanoarrays (Co/CoO-NAs). Due to the formed heterostructure, more oxygen vacancies are found for Co/CoO-NAs resulting in a 1.

We performed two-sample and two-step Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses utilizing publicly available genome-wide association studies (GWAS) summary statistics to estimate the association between coffee intake and OA risk (including knee OA, hip OA, knee or hip OA, and total OA), as well as the possible mediating effects of BMI and BMD. In addition, data of different coffee types (decaffeinated coffee, instant coffee, ground coffee-including espresso, filter, etc.

However, the relationship between thyroid function variation within thyroxine reference range and bone mineral density (BMD) remains ambiguous.

In this study, the degradation performance of ciprofloxacin (CIP), one of the typical contaminants of antibiotics, in an oxidation system of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activated by magnetic graphene oxide (MGO) was investigated. The effects of the MGO dosage, PMS concentration and pH on the degradation of CIP were evaluated, and under the optimal treatment conditions, the CIP degradation rate was up to 96.

A laser vision sensor (LVS) relies on manual intervention to guide the robot when near the workpiece, which reduces the autonomy of the welding robot and productivity. To solve this problem, a robot welding guidance system based on an improved YOLOv5 algorithm with a RealSense Depth Camera was proposed.

Direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) is hampered by the sluggish methanol oxidation reaction. In this work, we have invited rhodium phosphides (RhP) to platinum (Pt) as robust MOR electrocatalyst ascribing the excellent water dissociation capability of RhP to generate Pt(OH) species to mitigate the CO poisoning. MOR mass activity of RhP-Pt/C is enhanced by 2- and 3.

Production relations must adapt to the development of productivity. Simultaneously, the prevalence and burden of chronic diseases are becoming increasingly severe, leveraging digital technology to innovate chronic disease management model is essential.

However, epidemiological statistics on the level of physical activity required for bone health are scarce. The purpose of this research was to analyze the association between PA and total spine bone mineral density (BMD) in postmenopausal women.

This study aimed to identify the prevalence of chronic diseases over the past 25 years in China and estimate the trends and changes in risk factors related to NCDs.
Methods: We conducted a descriptive analysis based on the National Health Service Survey (NHSS) from 1993 to 2018.

Objective: To investigate the short- and mid-term effectiveness of unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) for post-traumatic arthritis (PTA) of knee.
Methods: The clinical data of 30 patients with PTA of unilateral knee between March 2014 and September 2021 was retrospectively analyzed. There were 14 males and 16 females with an average of 64.
The whole-surface hyperspectral image acquisition of navel orange is particularly important for surface defect detection and quality classification. Because the light intensity at the edge of the navel orange is lower than that in the middle, the defects on the surface of the navel orange cannot be effectively identified. In this paper, a hyperspectral online sorting device for the whole-surface defects of navel orange is proposed.

Methods: Clinical data of 204 patients were collected for retrospective analysis. The patients were divided into a conventional group (conventional skin care protocol, n=102) and a modified group (modified isolation care protocol, n=102) according to the different treatment regimens.

Objectives: We developed a new standardized procedure for lateral unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) to maximize the benefits and minimize the risks of surgery in patients with osteoarthritis (OA).
Methods: This retrospective study recruited patients who underwent lateral UKA at our hospital between January 2014 and January 2016. Demographic characteristics and preoperative and postoperative American Knee Society (AKS) clinical scores (including pain, clinical, and knee mobility scores) were collected.
Excessive alcohol consumption harms the human body, particularly the digestive system, by causing damage to the gastric mucosa. Tea saponin is a natural active substance extracted from tea tree seeds that has gastroprotective potential against alcohol-induced mucosal damage. However, the protective mechanism of tea saponins is not fully understood.

Little is known about variation of the inpatient and outpatient expenditures attributable to hypertension between prefecture-level administrative regions (PARs) and the drivers of such variation among China's middle-aged and elderly population.
Methods: We obtain data from China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Survey between 2011 and 2015, panel tobit models were used in our study to estimate differences across 122 PARs.
Background: The prevention and control of hypertension should be an effective way to reduce deaths and it has been a high priority in China. In 2013, the Chinese government increased the subsidy standard for the National Essential Public Health Services Package (NEPHSP) from RMB 15 to RMB 30 per person, which was expected to cover 70 million hypertensions. This study explored the influence of increasing NEPHSP subsidy on outpatient and inpatient expenditure among patients with hypertension.

In order to improve the traction performance of a wheel of a micro-tiller on the soil surface of a paddy field, we extracted the surface curve of a cow's hoof and used the cow's hoof as a bionic prototype to design a bionic paddy wheel. In order to verify the passability of the bionic paddy wheel in paddy soil, a wheel-soil test bench was built in the experimental field with a moisture content of 36%. The test results show that under the condition of the same load on the wheel, the changing laws of torque, drawbar pull, and slip ratio of the bionic paddy wheel and the conventional vaned wheel are similar.

This paper takes the China A-shares listed companies in heavy polluting industries from 2011 to 2020 as samples, combines the digital financial inclusion index to empirically examine the impacts of digital financial inclusion development on the green technology innovation of heavily polluting companies, and reveals its mechanism of action and its heterogeneity of the impacts of enterprises' green technology innovation in different development stages. The empirical research results show that the development of digital financial inclusion is able to promote the green innovation of heavy-polluting enterprises. Its main manifestation is that the development of digital financial inclusion helps the increase of green patent applications of heavy-polluting enterprises.

We conducted a cross-sectional study in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University to assess the health-related quality of life in our targeted population. Due to the characteristics of Yunnan nationality, our study population includes both Han people and ethnic minorities.
